Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Clinical Assistant Jobs at University of Miami Jobs
Align your credentials with Florida licensure requirements
Clinical Assistant roles at University of Miami often require state-recognized certifications or clinical hours that satisfy Florida Department of Health standards. Verify your credentials transfer before applying, since gaps here can delay an offer or complicate the sponsorship timeline.
Target department-specific openings in UHealth
University of Miami's UHealth system and its Miller School of Medicine post Clinical Assistant roles separately from central HR. Searching both portals gives you access to openings that may not surface in a single job board query, especially for subspecialty clinical units.
Find sponsoring Clinical Assistant roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Clinical Assistant openings at University of Miami by visa type. This surfaces roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, saving you the step of asking HR upfront whether your visa category is supported.
Ask HR which visa pathway fits your timeline
University of Miami sponsors multiple visa categories for clinical roles. If your OPT or CPT window is short, ask recruiting directly whether they can support a J-1 or TN filing before an H-1B petition cycle, since processing timelines differ significantly by category.
Request a PERM-track offer letter if you're aiming for permanent residence
If you want an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, confirm during negotiations whether the role is eligible for PERM labor certification. University of Miami's HR and legal team handle PERM filings, but the process must be initiated while you're still in valid status.
Prepare documentation that supports a specialty occupation argument
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires the Clinical Assistant role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Gather your degree transcripts, any clinical training records, and a detailed job description from your hiring manager that maps your duties to your field of study.

Does University of Miami sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Assistants?
Yes, University of Miami sponsors H-1B visas for Clinical Assistant positions where the role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. The university's legal and HR teams manage the petition process, but the role must demonstrably require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. How do I apply for Clinical Assistant jobs at University of Miami?
Applications go through the University of Miami's central careers portal at careers.miami.edu, though UHealth system roles often post separately. Filter by department or job family to find Clinical Assistant openings. Tailoring your application to the specific clinical unit, whether that's a research lab, outpatient clinic, or hospital department, improves your chances of advancing past the initial screen.
Which visa types does University of Miami commonly use for Clinical Assistant roles?
University of Miami sponsors several visa categories for Clinical Assistant positions, including H-1B, J-1, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students already enrolled or recently graduated. EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways are also available for eligible candidates seeking permanent residence. The right category depends on your nationality, current status, and how quickly you need work authorization.
What qualifications does University of Miami expect for Clinical Assistant positions?
Most Clinical Assistant roles at University of Miami require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a health-related field, plus relevant clinical experience or certification depending on the unit. Patient-facing roles in UHealth often require specific state credentials recognized in Florida, while research-oriented positions may prioritize lab technique or data management skills. Reviewing the posted job description carefully is the most reliable way to identify what a specific hiring department expects.
How do I know if a Clinical Assistant opening at University of Miami will sponsor my visa before I apply?
The most efficient way to identify confirmed sponsoring roles is through Migrate Mate, which filters Clinical Assistant positions at University of Miami by visa category so you can target openings where sponsorship aligns with your status. You can also verify sponsorship history through the DOL's public LCA disclosure data, which shows filed Labor Condition Applications by employer and visa type. Reaching out to HR before submitting is reasonable but not always necessary if you've done this research first.
