Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires the Technician role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Review the job posting closely and confirm the listed degree requirement is specific to a field, not just any bachelor's degree, before you apply.
Target lab and research department postings directly
University of Miami's sponsored Technician roles tend to sit within research centers and clinical labs rather than general operations. Filtering by department when searching their careers portal surfaces the postings most likely to include visa support.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Technician openings
Search Migrate Mate to find current Technician listings at University of Miami filtered by visa type. This saves time by surfacing only roles where sponsorship has been part of the university's hiring pattern for this function.
Ask about LCA filing early in negotiations
Once you have an offer, confirm the employer is prepared to file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your start date. At a large university, the international office typically handles this, but timelines vary by department and hiring manager.
