Credential your degree for U.S. academic standards
UNT hiring committees evaluate foreign transcripts carefully. Get your degree officially evaluated by a NACES-member credential assessment service before applying, so your qualifications map clearly to U.S. equivalency standards required for faculty appointments.
Target departments with recurring instructional vacancies
UNT's College of Education, College of Science, and College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences post Teaching roles most consistently. Monitoring these specific departments on the UNT Careers portal gives you earlier visibility than waiting for aggregated job boards.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Ask HR explicitly whether the position supports H-1B filing only or also includes PERM-based Green Card sponsorship. Some Teaching roles at UNT qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 pathways, and knowing this upfront shapes your long-term immigration planning significantly.
Time your J-1 waiver application strategically
If you're arriving on a J-1 exchange visitor visa, the two-year home residency requirement blocks H-1B sponsorship unless you obtain a waiver. Start the DOL or Interested Government Agency waiver process well before your program end date to avoid gaps in status.
Browse verified Teaching openings using Migrate Mate
Filter actively sponsored Teaching positions at UNT using Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles by visa type so you can confirm H-1B or OPT eligibility before investing time in a full application.

Find Teaching at University of North Texas JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does University of North Texas sponsor H-1B visas for Teaching roles?
Yes, University of North Texas sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Teaching positions. Teaching roles that require a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a specific specialty field typically meet the specialty occupation threshold USCIS requires. UNT's international services office manages the petition process, and sponsorship is generally initiated after a formal offer is extended.
How do I apply for Teaching jobs at University of North Texas?
Applications are submitted through UNT's official careers portal at jobs.untsystem.edu. Each Teaching posting lists the required application materials, which typically include a CV, cover letter, teaching statement, and reference contacts. Departmental search committees review applications, so tailoring your materials to the specific department's academic focus meaningfully improves your chances of advancing to an interview.
Which visa types does University of North Texas commonly use for Teaching roles?
UNT sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for Teaching positions requiring specialized academic credentials. J-1 exchange visitor visas are also used for visiting faculty and short-term instructors. F-1 OPT and CPT can support Teaching roles for current students. For longer-term faculty, UNT has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification where the position qualifies.
What qualifications does University of North Texas expect for Teaching roles?
Minimum qualifications vary by department and course level, but most Teaching positions require at minimum a master's degree in the relevant discipline. Tenure-track and full-time lecturer roles typically require a terminal degree such as a Ph.D. Demonstrated teaching experience, a record of scholarly activity, and familiarity with U.S. higher education pedagogy strengthen your application considerably at the departmental review stage.
How do I find Teaching jobs at University of North Texas that offer visa sponsorship?
Not every Teaching posting at UNT explicitly states visa sponsorship availability in the job description. The most efficient approach is to use Migrate Mate, which filters Teaching roles at UNT by confirmed visa sponsorship type, saving you the step of researching each posting individually. You can also contact UNT's International Student and Scholar Services office to confirm sponsorship eligibility for a specific role before applying.
