Frame Your Resume Around Marketplace Operations
Whatnot operates a live shopping marketplace, so tailor your resume to show experience with vendor management, marketplace growth, or commerce operations. Generic ops experience reads as a poor fit. Specificity to platform or retail business models gets interviews.
Verify E-Verify Enrollment Before Applying on OPT
F-1 OPT students can only work for employers enrolled in E-Verify. Whatnot is enrolled, but confirm this directly through the E-Verify employer search before accepting any offer to avoid authorization gaps.
Clarify Sponsorship Intent During the Interview Process
Whatnot sponsors multiple visa types for Business Operations, including H-1B and E-3. Raise your sponsorship needs after a strong interview round, not in the initial application. Recruiters at growth-stage retail tech companies respond better when sponsorship follows demonstrated fit.
Align Your Start Date With H-1B Cap Timelines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, the annual cap registration opens in March and employment can begin October 1 at the earliest. Structure your offer timeline with Whatnot accordingly so there is no gap between your current status and H-1B activation.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Verified Openings
Business Operations roles at Whatnot are not always posted consistently across job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsorship-friendly openings at Whatnot and filter by visa type to find roles that match your current immigration status.

Find Business Operations at Whatnot JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Whatnot sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Whatnot sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations roles. As a growth-stage retail tech company, they have a documented history of filing H-1B petitions across operational functions. If you are on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, it is worth raising sponsorship directly with the recruiter after progressing through initial interview rounds.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Operations roles at Whatnot?
Whatnot sponsors several visa categories for Business Operations, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and career stage.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Whatnot?
Use Migrate Mate to browse current Business Operations openings at Whatnot filtered by visa sponsorship type. Once you identify a relevant role, apply through Whatnot's careers page directly. Tailor your application to highlight marketplace operations, retail strategy, or live commerce experience, since Whatnot's business model differs meaningfully from traditional retail or SaaS operations.
What qualifications does Whatnot typically expect for Business Operations roles?
Whatnot generally looks for candidates with experience in marketplace operations, strategic planning, cross-functional project execution, or vendor and partner management. A bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field is standard. Familiarity with high-growth or platform business environments carries more weight than traditional brick-and-mortar retail experience.
How do I manage the timing between my visa status and a Business Operations offer at Whatnot?
Timing varies by visa type. H-1B petitions must be filed before October 1, so offers should be structured well in advance of that date. E-3 and TN visas move faster and can be processed closer to a start date. If you are transitioning off OPT, confirm your grace period window with USCIS guidelines and communicate your timeline clearly with Whatnot's recruiting team during the offer stage.
