ABOUT THE ROLE
ZS’s Data Strategy and Data Office has two pillars. First, we advise clients across sectors — including MedTech, Health, Travel & Hospitality, and other data-intensive industries — on all matters related to enterprise Data Strategy. As data volumes expand and AI reshapes business models, Data Strategy has become a critical, board-level priority. The team supports clients in defining data vision and mission, designing operating models and data organizations, establishing governance and stewardship frameworks, shaping data sourcing and generation strategies, enabling robust data architecture and cataloging capabilities, and driving compliant value creation. In close collaboration with our Digital and Technology practice, we diagnose and execute data strategies, helping clients build data capabilities and products that drive competitive advantage. The second pillar, Data Office, focuses on building and managing strategic relationships with a wide range of data providers to enable differentiated access to data and power innovative ZS offerings and services.
The Data Strategy Associate Consultant will be located close to one of our East Coast U.S. offices and will help deliver world-class solutions that shape and execute enterprise data strategies, primarily in the MedTech, Health Insurance, or Travel & Hospitality sectors. This includes developing data organizations and Data Offices, designing governance and operating models, strengthening AI-ready data foundations, driving data portfolio optimization and value realization, and leading hands-on delivery of data programs. This individual will have high visibility within the firm and will work collaboratively with the broader Data Strategy team across the Americas, Europe and India, as well as with colleagues across multiple practice areas (e.g., Research and Development Excellence, Digital Strategy, Technology Advisory, Compliance, and others).

- Support (in collaboration with ZS’ internal and client-facing teams) the design and execution of enterprise data strategy engagements, contributing to defining data vision, operating models and transformation roadmaps that address client challenges and strengthen AI-ready data foundations
- Contribute to the design and implementation of strategic data capabilities that strengthen how organizations manage, govern and use data to drive business value
- Own defined workstreams and analyses, supporting project leads in delivering objectives on time and within scope
- Partner with senior team members to support project planning, coordination, staffing and risk management activities
- Build working relationships with client stakeholders and support presentations related to project deliverables, brainstorming sessions, discussions and status updates
- Collaborate with an extended global team of diverse skill sets (knowledge management, data technologists, business operations, etc.) to deliver high-quality outputs
- Provide guidance to junior team members when appropriate
- Contribute to building long-term Data Strategy assets and offerings
- Support proposal development, client discussions and thought leadership efforts where data expertise is needed
- Contribute to developing perspectives on data strategy innovations to build firm intellectual capital and thought leadership
- Support relationship-building efforts with key data partners in the U.S.

Frame your degree around ZS's client industries
ZS's consulting work is concentrated in pharmaceuticals, biotech, and medical devices. A degree in business, life sciences, or engineering maps cleanly to the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to H-1B petitions for consulting roles. Make that alignment explicit on your resume.
Target offices with active consulting pipelines
ZS staffs consultants across multiple U.S. offices, and project demand varies by location. Applying to offices with high client concentration in pharma or healthcare gives you better odds of landing on a team that needs to fill headcount quickly, which accelerates the sponsorship conversation.
Clarify OPT or CPT eligibility before campus recruiting closes
ZS actively recruits through university consulting clubs and MBA programs. If you're on F-1 status, confirm your OPT start date aligns with ZS's onboarding cycle. A gap between graduation and your OPT authorization start can complicate an offer that otherwise moves fast.
Ask specifically about H-1B cap-exempt timing during the offer stage
ZS's H-1B filings follow the standard USCIS cap season, with petitions submitted in April for October 1 start dates. If your offer comes in late spring, clarify with your recruiter whether your start date will be deferred or whether a bridge arrangement using OPT is planned.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Professional Services Consultant roles by visa type
Not every open requisition at ZS is tied to a sponsorship-ready team. Use Migrate Mate to identify which Professional Services Consultant postings are actively associated with H-1B or TN sponsorship, so you're applying where sponsorship is already in scope.
Verify your TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
TN classification is available for management consultants under USMCA and is a faster path than H-1B for eligible nationals. Confirm that your role at ZS falls squarely within the management consultant definition DOL recognizes before relying on this as your primary pathway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does ZS sponsor H-1B visas for Professional Services Consultants?
Yes, ZS sponsors H-1B visas for Professional Services Consultant roles. The company has a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for consulting staff, and the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements in business, analytics, or life sciences. Sponsorship is most common for full-time hires coming off F-1 OPT or transitioning from a prior employer's H-1B visa.
How do I apply for Professional Services Consultant jobs at ZS?
Applications go through ZS's careers portal, where roles are listed by office and practice area. Campus recruiting is a major channel for entry-level consultant positions, so connecting with ZS through your university's consulting club or MBA program is often the most direct route. For experienced hires, applying directly to a role aligned with your industry background, particularly pharma or healthcare, strengthens your profile.
Which visa types does ZS commonly use for Professional Services Consultant roles?
ZS sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for this role, along with F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for students in active degree programs or recent graduates. Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN visa classification under the management consultant category. The right visa depends on your nationality, current status, and where you are in the hiring timeline.
What qualifications does ZS expect for Professional Services Consultant candidates?
ZS looks for candidates with a bachelor's or advanced degree in a field directly relevant to consulting work, including business, engineering, life sciences, or applied analytics. For the H-1B specialty occupation standard, the degree-to-role alignment matters, so generic degrees without coursework tied to ZS's client sectors carry more risk. Client-facing experience, structured problem-solving skills, and familiarity with pharmaceutical or healthcare commercial functions strengthen your application.
How do I find Professional Services Consultant roles at ZS that include visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point. You can browse Professional Services Consultant openings at ZS filtered by visa type, so you're only looking at roles where sponsorship has been part of the hiring pattern. This saves time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship late in the process, when timelines are harder to adjust.
