Concierge Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a concierge in California?
California does not require a state-issued license to work as a concierge, but most employers expect a high school diploma or equivalent plus demonstrated customer service or hospitality experience. Many candidates strengthen their profile by earning a Certified Concierge designation through Les Clefs d'Or or completing a hospitality certificate program at a California community college. Prior hotel front-desk or guest-services work is the most common entry credential recognized by California employers.
How much do concierges make in California?
Concierges in California earn a median of about $43,560 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,750 for the lowest 10% to over $60,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire concierges in California?
Employers hiring concierges in California right now include Bozzuto, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and CBRE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's density of luxury hotels, corporate headquarters, and high-end residential buildings means hiring is consistent across both the hospitality sector and private client services throughout the year.
Which California cities have the most concierge jobs?
San Francisco, California, and Los Angeles have the most concierge openings in California. Los Angeles leads because of its concentration of luxury hotels, entertainment industry offices, and high-end residential towers, while San Francisco's corporate campuses and boutique hotels drive demand there, and San Diego's resort and convention center market keeps a steady volume of openings year-round.
Are there remote concierge jobs in California?
Yes, but they're rare. Concierge work is primarily in-person and guest-facing, so the majority of roles require on-site presence. About 8% of concierge openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively in virtual personal assistance or digital lifestyle management rather than traditional hotel or residential concierge work.
How can I get hired as a concierge in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a front-desk agent or guest-services associate role at a California hotel, since large brands like Marriott and Hilton regularly promote internally to concierge positions. Entry-level roles in valet, bell services, or reservations at California resorts and casino hotels also provide a recognized stepping stone. Completing a hospitality or tourism certificate at a California community college and volunteering at local events builds the practical knowledge that employers look for in candidates without direct concierge experience.
Where can I find and apply to concierge jobs in California?
You can find and apply to concierge jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
