COO Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a coo in Utah?
The path to a coo role in Utah follows a leadership progression rather than a state-issued license, as the position carries no Utah-specific credentialing requirement. Employers consistently expect a bachelor's degree in business or a related field, often supplemented by an MBA. Most candidates build toward the role through VP-level positions in operations, finance, or product at Utah's technology, healthcare, or financial services companies before stepping into a chief operating role.
Which companies hire coos in Utah?
Employers hiring coos in Utah right now include SoFi, SALOMON, and BoxHouse, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Utah's concentration of tech headquarters, large health systems, and growing fintech companies creates steady demand for experienced operations executives across both established enterprises and high-growth organizations.
Which Utah cities have the most coo jobs?
Salt Lake City, Saint George, and Utah account for the largest share of coo openings in Utah. Salt Lake City anchors demand as the state's commercial and healthcare hub, while Provo-Orem draws heavily from the tech-dense Silicon Slopes corridor, and Ogden's manufacturing and logistics base supports operations leadership roles tied to its established industrial employers.
Are there remote coo jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. A coo role is inherently hands-on, requiring direct oversight of people, processes, and culture, which keeps most positions tied to a physical office. About 67% of coo openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, skewing toward companies in software, fintech, and digital services where operations can be managed across distributed teams.
How can I get hired as a coo in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a director or VP-level record in a single operational function first. In Utah, roles such as director of operations, VP of people, or head of finance at growth-stage companies in the Silicon Slopes corridor frequently serve as stepping stones. Large employers like Intermountain Health and Adobe offer structured leadership development programs that can accelerate the trajectory. A completed MBA from the University of Utah or Brigham Young University strengthens candidacy significantly for candidates without a full decade of operations leadership behind them.
Where can I find and apply to coo jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to coo jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that fit your background and target industry, and apply directly through each listing.
