Tips for Your CT Technologist Job Search
Tailor your resume to scanner protocols
List the specific CT scanner models you've operated, the scan protocols you've run independently, and any advanced applications like dual-energy or perfusion imaging. Hiring managers review these details to assess day-one readiness, not just your years of experience.
Highlight dose optimization and safety credentials
Employers increasingly screen for candidates who document radiation dose management experience. Call out any ACR dose index registry participation, low-dose protocol work, or continuing education in dose optimization directly on your resume, not just in your cover letter.
Target openings by shift type before applying
CT departments often post nights-and-weekends roles separately from day positions because the candidate pool differs. Filter openings by shift type early so you're not investing application time in roles whose schedule doesn't match your availability.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists ct technologist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for competency demonstrations in interviews
Many imaging departments ask candidates to walk through a specific scan sequence or describe how they'd handle a contrast reaction during the interview. Rehearse your step-by-step protocol responses out loud so you can deliver them clearly under pressure.
Negotiate shift differentials and on-call rates separately
Base pay is only part of the offer for ct technologists. Ask HR to break out night-shift differentials, weekend premiums, and on-call compensation in writing before you accept, since these can make a meaningful difference in your total take-home.
CT Technologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most ct technologists?
The companies hiring the most ct technologists right now include Atrium Health, Advocate Aurora Health, and Trinity Health, with the largest share of openings in North Carolina, Florida, and Pennsylvania, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Health systems, national radiology groups, and outpatient imaging chains consistently drive the highest volume of ct technologist postings.
How many ct technologist jobs are remote?
About 1% of ct technologist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the largely hands-on, equipment-dependent nature of the role. The sub-areas most likely to offer remote or flexible arrangements are teleradiology support, CT protocol development, and imaging quality assurance roles that don't require direct patient scanning.
How do you become a ct technologist?
You start by completing an accredited radiologic technology program and earning your ARRT certification in Radiography. From there, you pursue the ARRT post-primary CT credential through clinical experience and a structured examination. Many states also require a separate radiologic technology license, so check your state's specific requirements early in the process.
How do you get hired as a ct technologist with little or no experience?
Focus your applications on hospitals and imaging centers that list new-grad or trainee-level CT positions, which are distinct from roles requiring independent sign-off. Completing your clinical CT rotations at a high-volume facility strengthens your candidacy, and obtaining your ARRT CT certification before job searching signals readiness even without paid experience.
What does the ct technologist interview process look like?
Most ct technologist interviews begin with a phone or video screen with HR, followed by an in-person meeting with the imaging department manager and one or two senior technologists. Expect scenario-based questions about scan protocols, patient positioning, and contrast reactions. Some facilities include a brief skills walkthrough or ask you to describe a complex case from your clinical experience.
Where can I find and apply to ct technologist jobs?
You can find and apply to ct technologist jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, and specialty clinics across the United States. Find roles that match your certification level, shift preference, and location, then apply directly to each listing from the same page.
