Tips for Your Email Marketing Manager Job Search
Quantify your email metrics on your resume
List specific outcomes you drove: open rate lifts, revenue attributed to flows, list growth percentages, or unsubscribe rate reductions. Hiring managers for email marketing manager roles screen for candidates who tie campaigns directly to business results, not just execution.
Tailor your ESP experience to each listing
If a job listing names Klaviyo, HubSpot, or Iterable, mirror that exact platform name in your resume and cover letter. Applicant tracking systems often filter on tool names, and email marketing manager roles are tightly tied to the stack a company already runs.
Build a portfolio of actual campaign examples
Screenshot or export subject lines, preview text, send sequences, and A/B test results from campaigns you managed. Email marketing manager interviews regularly include a portfolio review or take-home audit, so having documented examples ready separates prepared candidates from the rest.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists email marketing manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for a live email audit in interviews
Many companies send candidates a real email from their sequence and ask you to critique it on the spot. Practice auditing emails for subject line strength, segmentation logic, CTA clarity, and mobile rendering before your interview so you can respond confidently and specifically.
Negotiate beyond base salary using performance bonuses
Email marketing manager offers often include performance-based bonuses tied to revenue or engagement benchmarks. When negotiating, ask about how those metrics are calculated and whether targets are set at hire, since vague benchmarks can make bonuses difficult to reach in practice.
Email Marketing Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most email marketing managers?
The companies hiring the most email marketing managers right now include Capgemini, WITHIN, and airSlate, with the largest share of openings in Georgia, Washington, and Colorado, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. E-commerce brands, SaaS companies, and retail chains consistently post the highest volume of these roles.
How many email marketing manager jobs are remote?
About 53% of email marketing manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, making it one of the more location-flexible marketing roles available. Lifecycle and automation-focused positions tend to offer the highest share of remote arrangements, while roles tied to in-house creative teams or agency environments more often require in-office presence.
How do you become an email marketing manager?
Start by building hands-on experience with an email service provider, either through a coordinator or specialist role, freelance work, or managing email for a small business or nonprofit. Develop skills in list segmentation, automation workflows, and copywriting. Build a portfolio of real campaigns with measurable results. From there, target roles with direct ownership of a program or channel to move into a manager title.
Can you get hired as an email marketing manager without much experience?
Yes, but you need to show ownership of real email work, not just familiarity with tools. Candidates with little experience do best by building a portfolio through freelance clients, volunteer work, or a personal newsletter with documented growth. Focus on roles at early-stage companies or nonprofits where the bar for formal credentials is lower and hands-on initiative carries more weight.
What does the email marketing manager interview process look like?
Most processes run three to four rounds. The first is a recruiter screen focused on background and tool experience. The second is a hiring manager conversation about strategy, past campaigns, and how you measure success. Many companies add a portfolio review or take-home audit where you critique a live email or propose improvements. A final round typically involves a panel with cross-functional stakeholders from product, sales, or creative.
Where can I find and apply to email marketing manager jobs?
You can find and apply to email marketing manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each listing. New openings are added regularly, so checking back frequently gives you a better shot at applying before positions fill.
