Field Operations Manager Jobs in District of Columbia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field operations manager in District of Columbia?
Most field operations manager roles in District of Columbia require a bachelor's degree in operations, business, or a related field, combined with several years of progressive supervisory experience. The District of Columbia does not issue a state-specific license for this role, but employers in the federal contracting sector strongly favor candidates who hold a PMP credential or a security clearance. Starting in logistics coordination or program analyst roles at federal agencies or large contractors is the most common path to advancement.
How much do field operations managers make in District of Columbia?
Field operations managers in District of Columbia earn a median of about $168,000 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $88,590 for the lowest 10% to over $312,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field operations managers in District of Columbia?
District of Columbia field operations manager roles are posted by CAVA, AGE Solutions, and M.C. Dean and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The District of Columbia market is shaped heavily by federal contractors and defense agencies, so large systems integrators and government services firms account for a significant share of the postings.
Which District of Columbia cities have the most field operations manager jobs?
Washington and Washington City lead for field operations manager openings in District of Columbia. Washington D.C. itself drives the bulk of demand through its concentration of federal agencies, defense contractors, and national nonprofits, while Arlington and Bethesda attract openings from large contractors like Leidos and Booz Allen Hamilton that base their operations teams close to key agency clients across the Potomac.
Are there remote field operations manager jobs in District of Columbia?
Yes, but they are limited. Field operations managers typically oversee on-site teams, facility inspections, or multi-location programs that require a physical presence, so full-remote arrangements are uncommon in this role. About 63% of field operations manager openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve program oversight, reporting, or coordination duties rather than direct on-site supervision.
How can I get hired as a field operations manager in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a logistics coordinator, operations analyst, or program support role at a federal contractor or government agency in the Washington D.C. area. Organizations like Leidos, SAIC, and the General Services Administration regularly hire at the associate or coordinator level and promote internally. Earning a PMP or obtaining a security clearance significantly strengthens a candidate's profile, as most District of Columbia employers treat clearance as a competitive differentiator even at junior levels.
Where can I find and apply to field operations manager jobs in District of Columbia?
You can find and apply to field operations manager jobs in District of Columbia on Migrate Mate, which lists current District of Columbia openings from employers actively hiring right now.
