Field Operations Manager Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field operations manager in North Carolina?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in operations management, industrial engineering, business, or a related field combined with progressive field supervisory experience. North Carolina does not require a state-issued license specifically for field operations managers, though roles in utilities, construction, and environmental services often expect OSHA certification or credentials recognized by North Carolina regulatory agencies. Many candidates move up from field supervisor, project coordinator, or operations analyst positions at employers in the Charlotte metro, Research Triangle, or the Piedmont Triad manufacturing corridor.
How much do field operations managers make in North Carolina?
Field operations managers in North Carolina earn a median of about $101,950 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,340 for the lowest 10% to over $238,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field operations managers in North Carolina?
Companies currently hiring field operations managers in North Carolina include City of Winston-Salem, 84 Lumber, and Targan, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. North Carolina's mix of major utilities, large distribution networks, and advanced manufacturing facilities means demand is spread across sectors rather than concentrated in a single industry.
Which North Carolina cities have the most field operations manager jobs?
Winston-Salem, Raleigh, and Cary have the most field operations manager openings in North Carolina. Charlotte leads because of its density of logistics hubs, energy companies, and corporate headquarters, while Raleigh-Durham draws openings tied to technology, life sciences operations, and state government facilities, and Greensboro benefits from its central location along major freight corridors and a strong manufacturing base.
Are there remote field operations manager jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, but they're rare. Field operations management is inherently site-based, requiring direct oversight of crews, equipment, and physical locations. About 0% of field operations manager openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to involve regional coordination, reporting, or administrative functions rather than hands-on field supervision.
How can I get hired as a field operations manager in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a field supervisor, operations coordinator, or logistics associate role at one of North Carolina's large distribution, utilities, or industrial employers, where internal promotion paths to operations management are well established. Companies like Duke Energy and major Piedmont Triad manufacturers run structured development programs that move high-performing associates into management. An OSHA 30-Hour certification and hands-on experience with scheduling or crew dispatch strengthens any early-career application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to field operations manager jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to field operations manager jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
