Finance Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance professional in Vermont?
Most finance roles in Vermont require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, with many employers preferring candidates who hold or are pursuing a CPA license. Vermont CPAs are licensed through the Vermont Secretary of State's Office, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Examination and meeting state education and experience requirements. For non-CPA finance roles, strong analytical coursework and internship experience are the most consistent hiring qualifiers.
Which companies hire finance professionals in Vermont?
Companies currently hiring finances in Vermont include Ryder System, HCRS, and Mountain Views Supervisory Union, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's finance hiring is especially active among its healthcare systems, regional banks, insurance carriers, and state government agencies, which maintain year-round demand for analysts, accountants, and compliance staff.
Which Vermont cities have the most finance jobs?
Montpelier, Vermont, and Woodstock account for the largest share of finance openings in Vermont. Burlington drives the most volume as the state's economic hub, home to the University of Vermont Medical Center, regional banking headquarters, and insurance firms, while Montpelier concentrates state government and regulatory finance roles, and Rutland generates demand through its healthcare and manufacturing sectors.
Are there remote finance jobs in Vermont?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 29% of finance openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves analysis, reporting, and software-based tasks that do not require a physical office. Financial analysis, FP&A, and accounting roles are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements, while roles requiring in-person client contact or cash handling are typically on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance professional in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for junior financial analyst, accounting assistant, or budget analyst roles at large Vermont institutions such as University of Vermont Medical Center, National Life Group, or the Vermont Department of Finance and Management, which periodically hire new graduates into structured entry-level positions. Building toward a CPA or completing a CFA Level I exam signals commitment and often compensates for limited work history. Lateral moves from bookkeeping, payroll, or administrative roles within a Vermont organization are also a recognized path into formal finance positions.
Where can I find and apply to finance jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to finance jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
