Financial Consultant Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial consultant in New Jersey?
To work as a financial consultant in New Jersey you need to register with FINRA and hold the appropriate securities license, most commonly the Series 65 for investment advisers or the Series 66 if paired with a Series 7. New Jersey investment advisers operating independently must also register with the New Jersey Bureau of Securities under the New Jersey Uniform Securities Law. Most employers require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, and a CFP or CFA credential significantly strengthens your candidacy for client-facing roles.
Which companies hire financial consultants in New Jersey?
Employers hiring financial consultants in New Jersey right now include Infosys, Crowe, and Ryder System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of insurance carriers, asset managers, and corporate treasury departments in the Newark and Princeton corridors means openings appear across a wide range of firm types, from global financial institutions to regional wealth management boutiques.
Which New Jersey cities have the most financial consultant jobs?
Bridgewater, Trenton, and Millburn consistently account for the largest share of financial consultant openings in New Jersey. Newark anchors demand as home to major insurance and financial services headquarters, while Jersey City draws roles from firms with offices along the Hudson waterfront, and Princeton attracts corporate finance and wealth management positions tied to the pharmaceutical and technology companies clustered in the surrounding corridor.
Are there remote financial consultant jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many client-service roles, since financial planning and investment advisory work is largely analytical and communication-based. About 67% of financial consultant openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the industry's growing comfort with virtual client relationships. Portfolio review, financial planning analysis, and retirement strategy work are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely, while new client acquisition and relationship management typically require in-person availability.
How can I get hired as a financial consultant in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a financial analyst or client services associate role at one of New Jersey's large insurance or asset management firms, where companies like Prudential Financial and Investors Bank run structured rotational or new-graduate programs that funnel candidates into advisory tracks. Lateral moves from banking, accounting, or insurance underwriting are common stepping stones. Completing the Series 65 exam before applying signals seriousness and removes a hurdle for hiring managers, even without years of direct advisory experience.
Where can I find and apply to financial consultant jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to financial consultant jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
