Financial Director Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial director in Georgia?
Most Georgia employers require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance at minimum, with a master's or MBA strongly preferred at the director level. Holding an active CPA license recognized by the Georgia State Board of Accountancy is a significant advantage and is required or preferred in many listings. Candidates typically advance through senior accountant or finance manager roles before moving into a director position, building experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and team leadership along the way.
Which companies hire financial directors in Georgia?
Employers hiring financial directors in Georgia right now include Emory University, State of Georgia, and BRAVEN, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, major health systems, and logistics companies creates consistent demand for senior finance leadership across multiple sectors.
Which Georgia cities have the most financial director jobs?
Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Georgia account for the most financial director openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it is home to the state's largest concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and health systems, while Savannah and Augusta generate demand through their growing logistics, healthcare, and regional banking sectors.
Are there remote financial director jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than many senior finance roles, financial director positions can accommodate remote or hybrid arrangements because the work centers on analysis, reporting, and strategic communication rather than on-site operations. About 100% of financial director openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader corporate flexibility at the leadership level. Financial planning and analysis and treasury roles tend to be the most remote-compatible, while roles involving multi-site operations or compliance oversight more often require regular in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a financial director in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building toward the director level from a senior financial analyst or finance manager role at a mid-size Georgia company, where promotion timelines tend to be shorter than at large corporations. Health systems such as Emory Healthcare and Piedmont Healthcare, as well as logistics firms based in the Atlanta metro, regularly hire finance professionals into rotational or high-potential programs that can accelerate advancement. Earning a CPA license through the Georgia State Board of Accountancy and gaining exposure to financial consolidation or budgeting work gives candidates a concrete edge when applying for their first director-level role.
Where can I find and apply to financial director jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to financial director jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
