Front Desk Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a front desk in Oregon?
Most front desk roles in Oregon require a high school diploma and on-the-job training rather than a state-issued license. For medical front desk positions, completing a medical administrative assistant certificate program at a community college such as Portland Community College or Lane Community College gives candidates a strong edge. Employers typically promote from within or hire from adjacent administrative roles, so demonstrating scheduling and communication skills is the concrete starting point.
Which companies hire front desks in Oregon?
Companies currently hiring front desks in Oregon include Planet Fitness, Highgate, and Sniff Dog Hotel, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oregon's healthcare systems, hotel groups, and professional services firms account for the largest share of ongoing front desk openings in the state.
Which Oregon cities have the most front desk jobs?
Portland, Eugene, and Bend have the most front desk openings in Oregon. Portland drives the largest share of listings because of its density of hospital systems, corporate headquarters, and hotels, while Eugene and Salem add volume through university medical centers, state government offices, and regional hospitality employers.
Are there remote front desk jobs in Oregon?
Yes, but they're rare. Front desk work is primarily on-site by nature, since it involves greeting visitors, managing physical check-ins, and handling in-person inquiries. About 0% of front desk openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to be virtual receptionist or phone-based scheduling roles rather than traditional front-of-house positions.
How can I get hired as a front desk in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to medical or hotel front desk roles that advertise on-the-job training. Large Oregon employers such as Oregon Health & Science University and Providence Health & Services regularly hire entry-level patient service representatives and train them internally. Completing a medical administrative assistant certificate at Portland Community College or similar programs builds relevant skills quickly, and lateral moves from retail or food service customer-facing roles are a common door into the field.
Where can I find and apply to front desk jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to front desk jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred city, and industry, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
