Healthcare Sales Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare sales specialist in New York?
Most employers require a bachelor's degree, typically in life sciences, nursing, business, or a related field. New York does not issue a state license specific to pharmaceutical or medical device sales, so entry depends on a combination of degree credentials, relevant sales or clinical experience, and product knowledge. Candidates coming from clinical backgrounds such as nursing or pharmacy technician work are competitive. Completing a formal sales training program or earning a Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative credential strengthens applications for roles at major New York employers.
Which companies hire healthcare sales specialists in New York?
Employers hiring healthcare sales specialists in New York right now include CFC, Google, and Phamily, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's dense concentration of academic medical centers, large integrated delivery networks, and global pharmaceutical headquarters makes it one of the most consistent hiring markets for this role nationwide.
Which New York cities have the most healthcare sales specialist jobs?
New York, Bronx, and Albany have the most healthcare sales specialist openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its unmatched density of hospital systems, specialty practices, and pharmaceutical company offices, while White Plains draws openings from the major biotech and pharma campuses in Westchester County, and Albany anchors the upstate market with state agency accounts and regional health systems.
Are there remote healthcare sales specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they are limited. Healthcare sales is fundamentally a field-based role built around in-person calls on physicians, hospital buyers, and pharmacy accounts, so most positions require regular territory travel. About 80% of healthcare sales specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be inside sales, account management, or clinical educator roles rather than traditional territory representative positions.
How can I get hired as a healthcare sales specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development or associate territory representative role at a large pharmaceutical or medical device company. Pfizer, Regeneron, and several specialty pharma companies headquartered in the New York metro area run structured entry-level sales programs and rotational associate tracks that hire candidates without prior sales experience. Lateral moves from clinical coordinator, pharmacy technician, or medical science liaison assistant roles are also common. Earning a Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative credential before applying gives candidates without direct sales history a concrete credibility marker.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare sales specialist jobs in New York?
