Human Resources Associate Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources associate in Hawaii?
Most human resources associate roles in Hawaii require at least an associate degree in human resources or business, with a bachelor's degree preferred by larger employers such as hospital systems and state agencies. Hawaii does not issue a state-specific HR license, but earning a SHRM-CP or PHR certification significantly strengthens a candidacy. Familiarity with Hawaii-specific employment statutes, including the state's wage, leave, and anti-discrimination laws, is frequently cited in job postings.
Which companies hire human resources associates in Hawaii?
Employers hiring human resources associates in Hawaii right now include State of Hawaii, Hawaii State Department of Education, and Marriott International, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's hospitality, healthcare, and government sectors drive a large portion of consistent HR hiring across the islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most human resources associate jobs?
Honolulu, Oahu Island, and Lihue have the most human resources associate openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it hosts the state's largest hospital networks, government agencies, and hotel corporate offices, while Maui County and Hilo openings tend to follow resort and healthcare employer expansions on those islands.
Are there remote human resources associate jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and they are more common than in many other HR roles, since much of the work involves digital recordkeeping, benefits coordination, and policy communication. About 0% of human resources associate openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting growing employer flexibility. Benefits administration and HRIS support functions tend to be the most remote-eligible sub-areas of the role.
How can I get hired as a human resources associate in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for HR coordinator or HR assistant roles at Hawaii's large hospitality and healthcare employers, which regularly onboard candidates who are new to the field. Hawaii Pacific Health, the University of Hawaii system, and major Waikiki resort operators have posted entry-level HR support roles that prioritize customer-service backgrounds and attention to detail over prior HR titles. Completing a SHRM-CP or PHR exam prep course, or obtaining an HR certificate from the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business, gives a candidate a concrete credential to cite when competing with more experienced applicants.
Where can I find and apply to human resources associate jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to human resources associate jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Honolulu, Maui County, and the Big Island. Search the roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
