Industrial Sales Representative Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an industrial sales representative in Ohio?
Ohio does not require a state-issued license to work as an industrial sales representative, so the path runs through education and employer-specific onboarding. Most Ohio employers prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree in business administration, mechanical engineering technology, or industrial distribution. From there, candidates typically apply to inside sales or sales development roles at distributors or manufacturers, complete product training, and progress to outside territory positions as they build customer relationships and technical knowledge.
How much do industrial sales representatives make in Ohio?
Industrial sales representatives in Ohio earn a median of about $73,960 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,850 for the lowest 10% to over $149,870 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire industrial sales representatives in Ohio?
Employers hiring industrial sales representatives in Ohio right now include Graybar, Mettler-Toledo, and OmniSource, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Ohio's concentration of industrial manufacturers, fluid power distributors, and automation integrators means hiring activity is consistent across the state throughout the year.
Which Ohio cities have the most industrial sales representative jobs?
Toledo, Lebanon, and Columbus have the most industrial sales representative openings in Ohio. Columbus anchors much of the activity as a major distribution and corporate hub, while Cleveland's dense manufacturing base along the Cuyahoga Valley and Cincinnati's strength in process industries and chemical distribution keep both metros consistently active for industrial sales hiring.
Are there remote industrial sales representative jobs in Ohio?
Yes, but they're limited. Industrial sales is fundamentally a field role built around in-person customer visits, product demos, and distributor relationships, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 0% of industrial sales representative openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those tend to cover inside sales or account management functions rather than territory-based outside sales.
How can I get hired as an industrial sales representative in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales or sales coordinator role at a large Ohio industrial distributor or manufacturer, where you learn product lines and customer types before moving into a territory. Companies like Parker Hannifin and Eaton recruit through campus programs at Ohio State, University of Toledo, and Youngstown State. Earning a technical certificate in fluid power, automation, or industrial maintenance gives candidates a genuine edge over other applicants without field experience.
Where can I find and apply to industrial sales representative jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to industrial sales representative jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and target territory, and apply directly through each listing without any intermediary step.
