Internship Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a internship in Utah?
Securing an internship in Utah starts with enrollment in an accredited program at a university such as the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, or Utah State University, whose career centers actively connect students with local employers. Most positions require you to apply through your academic department or directly with companies during fall or spring recruiting cycles. Technical fields often expect a portfolio or completed coursework, while business and healthcare internships may require a faculty or advisor referral and in some clinical cases a background check.
Which companies hire internships in Utah?
Employers hiring internships in Utah right now include Big West Oil, Northwestern Mutual, and CUPERTINO ELECTRIC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Utah's tech corridor along the Wasatch Front means many of the most active hirers are software, fintech, and life sciences companies with large campus-recruiting programs.
Which Utah cities have the most internship jobs?
The cities with the most internship openings in Utah are Salt Lake City, North Salt Lake, and Draper. Salt Lake City drives the largest share because it hosts major corporate headquarters, a large healthcare system, and the state government, while Provo's volume reflects the dense university presence at Brigham Young University and the surrounding Silicon Slopes tech cluster, and Ogden draws interns into aerospace, manufacturing, and logistics employers concentrated along the northern Wasatch corridor.
Are there remote internship jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than many fields, particularly for software, data, marketing, and finance roles. About 50% of internship openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting Utah's strong tech-sector presence. On-site requirements are most common in healthcare, engineering lab, and operations internships where hands-on work is central to the role.
How can I get hired as a internship in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured internship programs at large Utah employers before or during your first or second year of study. Companies like Adobe, Qualtrics, and Intermountain Health run formal intern cohorts that are explicitly designed for candidates with little prior professional experience. Completing relevant coursework, building a project portfolio, and securing a strong faculty referral through your university's career center all improve your odds considerably when competing for these entry-level cohort spots.
Where can I find and apply to internship jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to internship jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings updated regularly. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your field and schedule, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
