IT Support Technician Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it support technician in Missouri?
Missouri does not require a state-issued license for it support technician work, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most employers expect at least a high school diploma plus CompTIA A+ certification, which validates core hardware and software troubleshooting skills. Community colleges such as St. Louis Community College and Ozarks Technical Community College offer information technology associate degrees that satisfy the educational baseline most Missouri employers list in their postings.
Which companies hire it support technicians in Missouri?
Employers hiring it support technicians in Missouri right now include CoxHealth, Agital, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's mix of large healthcare networks, financial institutions, and state government agencies means demand remains steady throughout the year rather than clustering around seasonal hiring cycles.
Which Missouri cities have the most it support technician jobs?
St. Louis, Kansas City, and Springfield lead Missouri for it support technician openings. Kansas City and St. Louis drive the bulk of demand through their dense concentrations of corporate headquarters, regional medical centers, and financial services firms, while Springfield supports a growing cluster of openings tied to healthcare employers like CoxHealth and Mercy Health.
Are there remote it support technician jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they're limited, because it support technician work often requires hands-on hardware repair, on-site network troubleshooting, and in-person end-user assistance. About 32% of it support technician openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to focus on service desk ticketing, Microsoft 365 support, and software troubleshooting that can be handled entirely over remote tools.
How can I get hired as a it support technician in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a help desk or tier-one support role, which Missouri employers in healthcare and financial services regularly fill with candidates who hold CompTIA A+ certification even without prior work history. Large Missouri employers such as BJC HealthCare and the University of Missouri system run IT apprenticeship and student worker programs that serve as a direct pipeline. Candidates who build a home lab, earn a free Microsoft Fundamentals certification, and apply to IT technician assistant or desktop support intern postings at Missouri community colleges or state agencies gain a concrete edge.
