Manufacturing Supervisor Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a manufacturing supervisor in Rhode Island?
Most manufacturing supervisors in Rhode Island move into the role after several years on the production floor, often starting as machine operators, quality technicians, or team leads. Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license for the role, but employers consistently favor candidates with a degree in manufacturing technology or industrial management from schools like Rhode Island College or CCRI, combined with Lean or Six Sigma certification. Demonstrating direct team leadership experience is the clearest path to a first supervisory posting.
How much do manufacturing supervisors make in Rhode Island?
Manufacturing supervisors in Rhode Island earn a median of about $81,650 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,080 for the lowest 10% to over $133,180 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire manufacturing supervisors in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island manufacturing supervisor roles are posted by Anduril, Amgen, and FujiFilm and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's dense cluster of defense contractors, medical device firms, and specialty plastics manufacturers means consistent openings appear across both large employers and family-owned production facilities throughout Providence and Kent counties.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most manufacturing supervisor jobs?
North Kingstown, West Greenwich, and Cranston are the Rhode Island cities with the most manufacturing supervisor openings. Providence draws the largest share because of its concentration of corporate headquarters, distribution centers, and multi-shift production facilities, while Woonsocket and Pawtucket carry significant volume from legacy industrial employers and the supply chains tied to larger manufacturers in the region.
Are there remote manufacturing supervisor jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. About 6% of manufacturing supervisor openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects how hands-on the role is by nature. The portions of the job most likely to be done off-site are scheduling, reporting, and vendor coordination, while floor supervision, safety walks, and shift handoffs remain firmly on-site.
How can I get hired as a manufacturing supervisor in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a production associate or quality control technician role at a mid-sized Rhode Island manufacturer, where internal promotion to shift lead or assistant supervisor is common. Employers like Toray Plastics and the defense subcontractors in North Kingstown regularly hire from their own floor teams. Completing an industrial technology or operations management program at CCRI and earning a Lean Yellow Belt credential significantly improves the odds of a first supervisory appointment.
Where can I find and apply to manufacturing supervisor jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to manufacturing supervisor jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that match your experience and apply directly to the ones that fit.
