Manufacturing Supervisor Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a manufacturing supervisor in Ohio?
The typical path starts with hands-on production or technician experience followed by promotion into a lead or team leader role. Ohio does not require a state-issued license specifically for manufacturing supervisors, but employers consistently expect a degree in industrial technology, operations management, or engineering alongside proven floor experience. Certifications from ASQ or the Association for Manufacturing Excellence strengthen a candidacy, and many Ohio plants prefer candidates who have completed internal leadership development programs.
How much do manufacturing supervisors make in Ohio?
Manufacturing supervisors in Ohio earn a median of about $72,160 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,320 for the lowest 10% to over $99,960 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire manufacturing supervisors in Ohio?
Employers hiring manufacturing supervisors in Ohio right now include Qnity, General Mills, and Bob Evans Farms, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's concentration of automotive assembly plants, chemical facilities, and consumer goods operations means demand from both large multinationals and regional contract manufacturers remains steady throughout the year.
Which Ohio cities have the most manufacturing supervisor jobs?
Cincinnati, Mentor, and Marietta account for the most manufacturing supervisor openings in Ohio. Columbus draws volume from its growing logistics and consumer goods sector, Cleveland's legacy in metal fabrication and medical devices drives steady demand, and Toledo's auto glass and automotive assembly history keeps that market consistently active for experienced supervisors.
Are there remote manufacturing supervisor jobs in Ohio?
Yes, but they're rare. Manufacturing supervisors are hands-on roles tied to the plant floor, so fully remote positions are the exception rather than the rule. About 0% of manufacturing supervisor openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to involve project or process engineering oversight rather than direct shift supervision.
How can I get hired as a manufacturing supervisor in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is landing a production technician or team lead role at a large Ohio manufacturer and working toward internal promotion. Companies like Honda in Marysville and Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati run structured leadership development tracks that take high-performing hourly employees into supervisory roles. Completing an associate or bachelor's program in industrial technology at an Ohio community college strengthens that path, and an OSHA 30-hour certification signals safety readiness that Ohio plant managers specifically look for.
