California employers in technology, life sciences, and enterprise software typically promote from regional or territory sales roles. There is no state-issued license required, but industry certifications such as Certified Sales Professional can strengthen a candidacy in competitive California markets.

National account executives in California earn a median of about $76,490 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,200 for the lowest 10% to over $152,760 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire national account executives in California?
Employers hiring national account executives in California right now include Allianz, JCDecaux, and SitelogIQ, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, life sciences firms, and large consumer brands means national accounts roles here often cover high-value enterprise or healthcare clients.
Which California cities have the most national account executive jobs?
Los Angeles, California, and Ontario post the most national account executive openings in California. The distribution reflects the state's industry anchors: San Francisco and Silicon Valley drive demand in enterprise software and cloud, Los Angeles concentrates roles in media, entertainment, and consumer goods, and San Diego's strong life sciences and biotech base generates consistent openings in medical device and pharmaceutical national accounts.
Are there remote national account executive jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most sales roles, since national account executives primarily work through calls, virtual presentations, and periodic travel rather than a fixed office. About 100% of national account executive openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how relationship-driven and travel-intensive the role already is. Strategic account management and sales operations functions within the role tend to be the most fully remote.
How can I get hired as a national account executive in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a sales development representative or inside sales role at a California technology or life sciences company, then building toward territory or regional sales before making the move to national accounts. A Salesforce certification or demonstrated success in quota-carrying roles, even at smaller companies, gives candidates a measurable edge.
