Construction company is a growing design-build and general contracting company specializing in high-end residential remodeling, additions, ADUs, and new construction throughout the Los Angeles area.
We are looking for an experienced In-House SEO & Digital Marketing Manager to take full ownership of our SEO, website performance, local search presence, paid search campaigns, analytics, and digital lead-generation strategy.
We currently work with an outside SEO company, but our goal is to bring these capabilities in-house with someone who can work on our business full-time, understand our market deeply, and continuously improve our online visibility and lead generation.
This is a hands-on position. We are not looking for someone whose experience is primarily managing outside agencies. We want someone who can personally execute, analyze, troubleshoot, test, and improve our digital marketing.
Key Responsibilities
SEO Strategy & On-Page SEO
- Develop and execute a comprehensive SEO strategy focused on generating qualified remodeling and construction leads. Perform keyword research and identify opportunities based on search volume, competition, location, and customer intent. Optimize title tags, meta descriptions, headings, URLs, page structure, images, and website content. Develop strong internal-linking strategies. Identify content gaps and create strategies for service pages, city/location pages, project pages, FAQs, and blog content. Monitor keyword rankings and organic search performance. Analyze competitors and identify opportunities to outperform them in local search results.
Technical SEO
- Perform regular technical SEO audits. Manage crawlability, indexing, XML sitemaps, redirects, canonical tags, robots.txt, and duplicate-content issues. Implement and maintain structured data/schema markup. Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals. Identify and correct broken links, crawl errors, indexing issues, and other technical SEO problems. Work directly inside Google Search Console to identify and resolve search-performance issues.
Website Development & Management

Strong understanding of HTML and CSS; working knowledge of JavaScript. Improve website speed, usability, mobile responsiveness, and overall performance. Understand hosting, DNS, domains, SSL, redirects, backups, and website security basics. Work with designers/developers when advanced development is required.
Local SEO & Google Business Profile
- Take ownership of our Google Business Profile. Optimize our presence in Google Maps and local search results. Manage categories, services, photos, posts, Q&A, reviews, and other GBP features. Develop strategies to increase legitimate customer reviews. Build, audit, and maintain local citations and directory listings. Maintain consistent NAP/business information across the web.
Link Building & Off-Page SEO
- Develop and execute ethical backlink-building strategies. Conduct outreach for relevant links, guest posts, partnerships, mentions, and digital PR opportunities. Evaluate backlink quality and monitor our backlink profile. Identify competitor backlink opportunities. Build relationships with relevant local websites, publications, organizations, suppliers, and industry resources.
Google Ads & Paid Search
- Manage and optimize Google Ads campaigns, including Search, Display, remarketing, and other relevant campaign types. Help manage and optimize Local Services Ads where applicable. Perform keyword research, negative-keyword management, bid optimization, ad testing, and landing-page optimization. Continuously monitor cost per lead, conversion rate, lead quality, and return on advertising spend. Identify wasted spend and opportunities to improve campaign profitability.
Analytics, Tracking & Reporting
- Manage Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, and conversion tracking. Properly track phone calls, contact forms, booked appointments, and other important conversion events. Build dashboards and reports covering organic traffic and rankings, leads by source, cost per lead, conversion rates, Google Ads performance, local/Google Maps performance, website performance, lead quality, and ROI. Go beyond reporting numbers—we expect this person to explain what is working, what isn't, why, and what we should do next.
Content & Copywriting
- Write and optimize website copy that is both SEO-friendly and persuasive. Create or help develop service pages, landing pages, project descriptions, FAQs, blog articles, and location-specific content. Understand search intent and how to create content designed to rank while converting visitors into leads. Use AI tools effectively while maintaining original, useful, brand-appropriate content.
Reddit, Forums & Community Marketing
- Understand Reddit culture, subreddit rules, and proper community engagement. Identify opportunities to build organic brand visibility without spam or overly promotional posting. Participate strategically in relevant construction, remodeling, homeowner, and local communities. Identify additional forums, Q&A sites, Facebook/community groups, and online communities where our target customers are active.
CRM, Lead Funnel & Automation
- Understand CRM systems and lead pipelines, preferably Pipedrive or similar platforms. Help connect marketing sources to our CRM so we can accurately understand where leads originate and which campaigns produce actual sales. Build and maintain marketing automations using Make, Zapier, or similar platforms. Identify opportunities to automate lead tracking, reporting, follow-ups, notifications, and repetitive marketing processes.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience across SEO, website management, local SEO, analytics, and paid search. You should be comfortable working independently and taking ownership of results rather than waiting for an agency or outside vendor to tell you what to do.

Experience with Google Business Profile and local SEO. Experience managing Google Ads. Proficiency with GA4, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager. - Increase qualified organic traffic. Improve rankings for high-value remodeling and construction searches throughout our service area. Increase Google Maps/Local Pack visibility. Generate more qualified leads. Reduce cost per qualified lead. Improve website conversion rates. Improve attribution so we know exactly which marketing channels generate leads and signed projects. Digital Marketing Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a digital marketing manager in California?
Digital marketing manager is not a state-licensed role in California, so there is no California-specific exam or credential required by law. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or business, followed by several years in channel-specific roles such as paid search analyst, SEO specialist, or social media coordinator. Certifications from Google, Meta, or HubSpot are widely recognized by California employers and strengthen a candidate's profile considerably.
How much do digital marketing managers make in California?
Digital marketing managers in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire digital marketing managers in California?
Employers hiring digital marketing managers in California right now include AEG Worldwide, PragerU, and Skechers, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, entertainment studios, and direct-to-consumer brands means in-house digital marketing teams are large and hire with regularity.
Which California cities have the most digital marketing manager jobs?
Los Angeles, Irvine, and San Diego are the California cities with the most digital marketing manager openings. Los Angeles dominates because of its entertainment, media, and e-commerce industries, while San Francisco and the broader Bay Area draw heavily from technology companies and venture-backed startups that rely on performance and growth marketing.
Are there remote digital marketing manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 52% of digital marketing manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how thoroughly the role is built around digital tools and platforms. Campaign management, content strategy, and analytics work are the functions most consistently offered on a fully remote basis by California employers.
How can I get hired as a digital marketing manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to build channel-specific experience first, then move into management. Large California technology and retail employers, including those headquartered in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, run new-grad associate marketing programs that rotate candidates through paid, owned, and earned media. Starting as a marketing coordinator, paid search analyst, or social media specialist at a California agency or brand gives you the campaign ownership and reporting experience that hiring managers look for before promoting to manager.
Where can I find and apply to digital marketing manager jobs in California?
