Nutritionist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nutritionist in Texas?
To work as a licensed dietitian-nutritionist in Texas, you must obtain licensure through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians. This requires completing a bachelor's or advanced degree in dietetics or nutrition from an accredited program, finishing a supervised dietetic internship, and passing the Commission on Dietetic Registration credentialing exam. Once credentialed as a Registered Dietitian, you apply to the Texas board for your state license before practicing.
How much do nutritionists make in Texas?
Nutritionists in Texas earn a median of about $74,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $40,040 for the lowest 10% to over $98,960 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire nutritionists in Texas?
Employers hiring nutritionists in Texas right now include Sodexo, Texas Health and Human Services Commission, and Harris County, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems, school districts, and major food retail and corporate headquarters create consistent demand across clinical, community, and workplace wellness settings.
Which Texas cities have the most nutritionist jobs?
Galveston, Houston, and Plano have the most nutritionist openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of major hospital systems and medical center institutions, while Dallas draws demand from both large health networks and corporate headquarters with robust employee wellness programs, and San Antonio's substantial military and VA healthcare infrastructure adds steady clinical openings.
Are there remote nutritionist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. About 0% of nutritionist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most clinical and community roles. The positions most likely to offer remote flexibility are telehealth nutrition counseling, corporate wellness coaching delivered virtually, and health education or program coordination roles that don't require direct patient contact.
How can I get hired as a nutritionist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for dietetic technician or nutrition assistant roles at large Texas hospital systems such as Baylor Scott and White Health or Memorial Hermann while completing or recently finishing your dietetic internship. Many Texas health systems and federally qualified health centers also hire new graduates into community nutrition coordinator roles. Holding your Registered Dietitian credential or being dietetic internship-eligible gives you a concrete edge over candidates who haven't yet cleared that step.
Where can I find and apply to nutritionist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to nutritionist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across clinical, community, corporate, and school-based settings. Search the listings, identify roles that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to each position that fits.
