Outside Sales Manager Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a outside sales manager in Alabama?
Most outside sales manager roles in Alabama require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a closely related field, combined with several years of proven field sales performance. Alabama does not mandate a state-issued license specifically for outside sales managers, but candidates moving into financial products or insurance sales must hold an Alabama Department of Insurance producer license. Employers typically promote high-performing sales representatives into management roles, so building a strong individual sales record in Alabama's manufacturing, healthcare, or industrial sectors is the most direct path.
How much do outside sales managers make in Alabama?
Outside sales managers in Alabama earn a median of about $124,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,050 for the lowest 10% to over $218,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire outside sales managers in Alabama?
Employers hiring outside sales managers in Alabama right now include Hibu, Cleft of the Rock, and Spectrum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Alabama's concentration of manufacturing, aerospace, and healthcare distribution companies means demand for outside sales leadership is especially consistent in the Birmingham and Huntsville corridors.
Which Alabama cities have the most outside sales manager jobs?
Birmingham, Mobile, and Auburn have the most outside sales manager openings in Alabama. Birmingham anchors the largest share of postings thanks to its concentration of financial services, healthcare systems, and industrial suppliers, while Huntsville's aerospace and defense manufacturing base drives demand in the northern region and Mobile's port-driven logistics and chemical industries support a steady volume of territory sales roles along the Gulf Coast.
Are there remote outside sales manager jobs in Alabama?
Yes, but they're rare. Outside sales management is fundamentally a field-based role that requires direct client visits, territory coverage, and in-person team coaching, which limits remote arrangements. About 77% of outside sales manager openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those listings typically involve managing a distributed team rather than carrying a personal client-facing territory.
How can I get hired as a outside sales manager in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to start as an outside sales representative or account executive at a large Alabama employer and build a measurable performance record before pursuing management. Companies like Vulcan Materials, Regions Financial, and regional healthcare distributors based in Birmingham and Huntsville regularly hire entry-level field sales representatives and promote from within. Earning an Alabama Department of Insurance producer license gives candidates in financial or insurance sales a concrete credential that signals readiness, and roles in account coordination or inside sales at the same company are common lateral moves that position you for an outside sales manager opening.
Where can I find and apply to outside sales manager jobs in Alabama?
You can find and apply to outside sales manager jobs in Alabama on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your experience and territory preference, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
