Outside Sales Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an outside sales manager in Texas?
Most outside sales managers in Texas move into the role after several years as a territory or account representative, demonstrating consistent quota attainment before taking on team leadership. Texas does not require a state-issued license for outside sales managers in most industries, though roles in sectors like insurance or real estate require the relevant Texas Department of Insurance or Texas Real Estate Commission credential. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field strengthens most applications.
How much do outside sales managers make in Texas?
Outside sales managers in Texas earn a median of about $136,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,750 for the lowest 10% to over $268,450 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire outside sales managers in Texas?
Employers hiring outside sales managers in Texas right now include Vero Networks, Spectrum, and CAM RESOURCES, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, logistics, and technology companies means hiring is consistent year-round across both large enterprise employers and regional distributors with dedicated field sales teams.
Which Texas cities have the most outside sales manager jobs?
Houston, San Antonio, and Austin have the most outside sales manager openings in Texas. Houston dominates due to its dense energy services and industrial distribution sector, Dallas attracts high volumes of SaaS and technology sales roles tied to the corporate headquarters presence in the Metroplex, and San Antonio draws hiring from healthcare distribution and construction supply companies serving South Texas.
Are there remote outside sales manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're limited, since outside sales management is inherently field-oriented and most roles require regular in-person client meetings and team ride-alongs across a defined territory. About 59% of outside sales manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those openings tend to be strategic or national account manager roles where relationship management happens primarily by phone and video.
How can I get hired as an outside sales manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is landing a territory sales representative role first, then building toward management by exceeding quota and mentoring peers informally. Large Texas-based distributors like Sysco and Fastenal run structured entry-level sales programs that develop reps into managers over time. Moving laterally from inside sales, account management, or retail sales leadership roles at Texas retailers or telecom providers is also a common entry point, especially when paired with a completed business degree.
Where can I find and apply to outside sales manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to outside sales manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring. Search the available roles by location or specialty, find the ones that fit your background, and apply directly through each listing.
