Account Director Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account director in Texas?
Becoming an account director in Texas typically requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications, followed by several years of progressively senior account management or client services experience. No state-issued license is required for the role. Texas employers generally promote from senior account manager or account executive positions, and candidates who demonstrate consistent client growth, retention results, and team leadership are the most competitive for director-level appointments.
How much do account directors make in Texas?
Account directors in Texas earn a median of about $61,680 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,360 for the lowest 10% to over $127,930 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account directors in Texas?
Employers hiring account directors in Texas right now include Enverus, BairesDev, and Cushman & Wakefield, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major agency networks, and large technology and energy firms means director-level account roles appear across a broad range of industries and company sizes throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most account director jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Texas have the most account director openings in Texas. Dallas drives volume through its dense cluster of corporate headquarters and professional services firms, Houston through its energy sector and large agency presence, and Austin through its fast-growing technology and SaaS industry, which generates consistent demand for enterprise account leadership.
Are there remote account director jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, because account directors in technology, software, and professional services can manage relationships effectively without daily on-site presence. About 72% of account director openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how common distributed client teams have become. Strategic oversight, reporting, and internal coordination work are the functions most commonly performed remotely in these roles.
How can I get hired as a account director in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an account manager or account executive role first and building a record of client retention and revenue growth before advancing. Large Texas employers in technology and professional services, including firms headquartered in Dallas and Austin, regularly hire account coordinators and junior account managers as a pipeline into director roles. Earning a certification in project management or a platform-specific credential like Salesforce Administrator strengthens a candidate's profile and signals readiness for client leadership responsibilities.
