Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pediatric nurse practitioner in New York?
To practice as a pediatric nurse practitioner in New York, you must hold a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice with a pediatric NP concentration, pass the national PNP-PC or PNP-AC certification exam, and obtain a New York State Nurse Practitioner license through the New York State Education Department. New York also requires a separate registration for prescriptive authority, which most clinical positions expect you to hold before your start date.
How much do pediatric nurse practitioners make in New York?
Pediatric nurse practitioners in New York earn a median of about $153,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $112,730 for the lowest 10% to over $198,060 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire pediatric nurse practitioners in New York?
Employers hiring pediatric nurse practitioners in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's large integrated health systems and academic medical centers drive consistent volume, with many openings tied to affiliated ambulatory pediatric practices and specialty clinics across the state.
Which New York cities have the most pediatric nurse practitioner jobs?
New York, Lake Success, and Brooklyn have the most pediatric nurse practitioner openings in New York. New York City dominates due to the density of major academic medical centers, children's hospitals, and multi-site ambulatory networks, while Buffalo and Albany generate steady demand through regional health systems and university-affiliated practices that anchor those metro areas.
Are there remote pediatric nurse practitioner jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Pediatric nurse practitioner work is fundamentally hands-on, so fully remote roles make up a small share of total openings. About 0% of pediatric nurse practitioner openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be in telehealth-based developmental screening, behavioral health follow-up, or care coordination roles rather than primary clinical practice.
How can I get hired as a pediatric nurse practitioner in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new-graduate NP residency or fellowship program, which large New York employers like Northwell Health and NewYork-Presbyterian run specifically for NPs without post-certification experience. Many candidates also move laterally from pediatric RN or NICU roles into NP positions within the same system. Holding a current New York NP license with prescriptive authority and a PNP certification before applying gives you a clear edge over candidates who are still completing those steps.
Where can I find and apply to pediatric nurse practitioner jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to pediatric nurse practitioner jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
