Personal Assistant Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a personal assistant in Illinois?
Becoming a personal assistant in Illinois does not require a state-issued license or certification, making it one of the more accessible professional roles to enter. Most Illinois employers look for a high school diploma or associate degree alongside demonstrable administrative experience. Earning a credential through a recognized administrative professional program, such as those offered at community colleges like Oakton College or Triton College, can strengthen your application and distinguish you from other candidates.
Which companies hire personal assistants in Illinois?
Illinois personal assistant roles are posted by Our Journey Home Services, TheKey, and Life Time and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's density of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, law offices, and luxury hospitality brands makes it one of the most active markets in the Midwest for ongoing personal assistant hiring.
Which Illinois cities have the most personal assistant jobs?
Chicago, Aurora, and Cicero account for the largest concentration of personal assistant openings in Illinois. Chicago drives the majority of postings given its corporate headquarters, legal and financial districts, and high-net-worth residential neighborhoods, while Evanston and Naperville attract demand through their proximity to university institutions, tech campuses, and executive residential communities that support professional household and office staff.
Are there remote personal assistant jobs in Illinois?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields, since many personal assistant roles require in-person presence for scheduling, errands, household management, and on-site executive support. About 0% of personal assistant openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting selective adoption among employers. The tasks most likely to shift remote include calendar management, email correspondence, vendor coordination, and travel booking.
How can I get hired as a personal assistant in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an administrative or receptionist role at a Chicago-area law firm, financial services company, or hospitality group, where you build the scheduling and correspondence skills personal assistant roles require. Illinois employers such as large hotel groups, corporate legal departments, and healthcare systems frequently hire entry-level coordinators who move laterally into personal assistant positions. Completing a recognized office administration program at a local institution like Wilbur Wright College and building a portfolio of task-management and communication samples strengthens your candidacy.
Where can I find and apply to personal assistant jobs in Illinois?
