Personal Assistant Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a personal assistant in North Carolina?
Personal assistant work in North Carolina requires no state-issued license or registration, so the path focuses on education and experience. Most employers expect at minimum a high school diploma, though an associate or bachelor's degree in business or communications strengthens applications considerably. Building experience through administrative coordinator or office assistant roles at North Carolina's large employers, such as health systems and university departments, is the most common stepping stone into a dedicated personal assistant position.
Which companies hire personal assistants in North Carolina?
Employers hiring personal assistants in North Carolina right now include Broadway Home Care, ONSLOW COUNTY SCHOOLS, and Ally Home Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's mix of Fortune 500 corporate offices in Charlotte and research-driven institutions in the Research Triangle Park corridor means demand comes from both the private sector and large nonprofit and academic organizations.
Which North Carolina cities have the most personal assistant jobs?
Raleigh, Charlotte, and Durham account for the largest share of personal assistant openings in North Carolina. Charlotte's concentration of banking, financial services, and corporate headquarters drives the highest volume, while Raleigh and Durham benefit from the Research Triangle's dense cluster of technology companies, major universities, and healthcare systems that collectively maintain large administrative workforces.
Are there remote personal assistant jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since personal assistant roles often require in-person support for scheduling, errands, and direct executive assistance. About 4% of personal assistant openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those roles tend to focus on calendar management, correspondence, and virtual coordination rather than on-site tasks.
How can I get hired as a personal assistant in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through administrative assistant or receptionist roles at large North Carolina employers such as hospital systems, university departments, or corporate offices in Charlotte or Raleigh, where internal movement into personal assistant positions is common. Completing a business administration certificate at a North Carolina community college, such as Wake Tech or Central Piedmont, adds credibility. Volunteering for scheduling and logistics tasks within any current administrative role builds a portfolio that hiring managers recognize as relevant experience.
