Heart-Centered Health is seeking an experienced MD or DO to serve as Occupational Health Medical Director for an established federal occupational health clinic at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
Required: MD/DO, active Mississippi medical license, current ABMS board certification, and occupational medicine experience.
This is primarily a medical leadership, oversight, and occupational-health role rather than a traditional full-time patient-care position. The Medical Director works alongside an established clinical team that includes nurse practitioners, a registered nurse, and radiology/laboratory support staff.
The physician will maintain a regular onsite presence at Stennis Space Center, with the ability to perform certain responsibilities remotely when appropriate. Specific onsite hours may vary depending on workload and program needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide medical direction and oversight for the occupational health program
- Serve as the final medical technical authority for occupational-health matters
- Provide clinical oversight of nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals
- Support provider credentialing and privileging
- Oversee occupational-medicine policies and clinical quality
- Provide guidance involving fitness-for-duty and medical qualification determinations
- Oversee immunization, medication-management, infection-control, bloodborne-pathogen, and related occupational-health programs
- Support emergency preparedness and AED programs
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, CDC, federal, state, and occupational-health requirements
- Remain available for timely consultation when working remotely
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Active Mississippi medical license required
- Board certification through an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) member board
- Occupational medicine experience
- Ability to provide recurring onsite services at Stennis Space Center
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work collaboratively with an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team
Physicians with backgrounds in occupational medicine, preventive medicine, aerospace medicine, employee health, industrial medicine, urgent care with significant occupational-health experience, or medical-director leadership are encouraged to apply.
This may be an especially attractive opportunity for an experienced occupational-health physician seeking meaningful, ongoing medical-director work without a traditional full-time clinical patient load.

How do you become a physician in Mississippi?

Applicants must also obtain a Mississippi-specific controlled substance permit and, where applicable, a DEA registration before seeing patients independently.
Which companies hire physicians in Mississippi?

Which Mississippi cities have the most physician jobs?
The cities with the most physician openings in Mississippi are Jackson, Gulfport, and Meridian. Jackson dominates the market as the home of University of Mississippi Medical Center and several large multispecialty groups, while Hattiesburg and Gulfport generate consistent demand through regional medical centers and the growing Gulf Coast population base.
Are there remote physician jobs in Mississippi?

The sub-roles most likely to carry a remote or telehealth component are psychiatry, radiology interpretation, and chronic disease management consultations.
How can I get hired as a physician in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path for physicians without independent experience is applying directly to residency or fellowship programs affiliated with University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, the state's primary academic training institution. New graduates can also target hospitalist or urgent care associate positions at community hospitals throughout Mississippi's rural counties, where competition is lower and mentorship structures exist.
