Production Supervisor Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production supervisor in Maryland?
Most production supervisor roles in Maryland require hands-on manufacturing experience plus a demonstrated ability to lead a team, with no state-issued license specific to the title. Employers in regulated sectors such as pharmaceuticals and food production typically expect familiarity with GMP standards and may require OSHA safety training completion. A degree in industrial technology, operations management, or a related field strengthens candidacy, and Lean or Six Sigma certification is increasingly a differentiator in Maryland's competitive manufacturing market.
How much do production supervisors make in Maryland?
Production supervisors in Maryland earn a median of about $78,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,270 for the lowest 10% to over $124,330 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire production supervisors in Maryland?
Employers hiring production supervisors in Maryland right now include Amrize, Perdue, and ST Engineering, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's mix of food manufacturing, biodefense, and aerospace production means active hiring tends to cluster around large anchor facilities with continuous multi-shift operations.
Which Maryland cities have the most production supervisor jobs?
Baltimore, Salisbury, and Frederick account for the largest share of production supervisor openings in Maryland. Baltimore drives volume through its port-adjacent food, beverage, and printing facilities, while the corridor towns toward Washington and Frederick reflect the dense presence of pharmaceutical and defense manufacturing campuses that operate on extended production schedules.
Are there remote production supervisor jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. Production supervisors typically oversee active manufacturing lines, equipment, and shift personnel on site, making fully remote work uncommon by the nature of the role. About 0% of production supervisor openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve scheduling, reporting, or quality documentation duties rather than direct floor oversight.
How can I get hired as a production supervisor in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a lead technician, machine operator, or quality associate role within a Maryland manufacturing facility, then stepping into a shift lead or assistant supervisor position. Large Maryland employers in food production and biodefense often promote from within and value OSHA ten-hour certification and internal safety training completion. Community colleges such as Baltimore City Community College offer manufacturing and operations coursework that can supplement a candidate's floor experience and strengthen an internal promotion application.
Where can I find and apply to production supervisor jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to production supervisor jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings across industries. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and sector, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
