Project Accountant Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project accountant in Tennessee?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, then gaining experience in cost or project accounting at a construction, healthcare, or government contractor. Tennessee does not require a state-issued license specific to project accounting, but the CPA credential issued through the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy strengthens candidacy considerably. Many Tennessee employers treat CPA eligibility as a baseline qualifier for mid-level and senior roles.
Which companies hire project accountants in Tennessee?
Employers hiring project accountants in Tennessee right now include Loenbro, LRK, and CBX Solutions, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's large healthcare systems, construction firms, and federal contractors such as TVA are among the most consistent sources of project accountant openings in the state.
Which Tennessee cities have the most project accountant jobs?
Nashville, Memphis, and Franklin account for the most project accountant openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its dense concentration of healthcare systems, commercial construction, and corporate headquarters, while Memphis draws demand from logistics infrastructure projects and regional contractors, and Knoxville benefits from proximity to federal energy and research institutions including Oak Ridge.
Are there remote project accountant jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, though they're less common than in purely analytical finance roles, since project accountants often collaborate closely with project managers and field teams. About 0% of project accountant openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that some employers allow flexibility for reporting and financial close work while expecting on-site presence during project phases.
How can I get hired as a project accountant in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying for accounts payable, accounts receivable, or staff accountant roles at Tennessee construction or healthcare firms, then transitioning into project accounting internally. Large Tennessee employers like HCA Healthcare and regional general contractors often post rotational finance associate programs for recent graduates. Pursuing CPA candidacy through the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy and gaining hands-on exposure to job costing software like Sage 300 CRE gives candidates a meaningful edge in early interviews.
Where can I find and apply to project accountant jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to project accountant jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the ones that match.
