Tips for Your Promotions Manager Job Search
Quantify your campaign results concretely
Promotions managers are hired on outcomes, not activities. Your resume should show lift in sell-through rates, redemption rates, or revenue during specific promotional windows, not just a list of campaigns you ran or managed.
Highlight your trade promotions fluency
Many listings specifically screen for trade promotions experience. Call out your familiarity with co-op funding, retailer portals, and promotional calendars early in your resume summary so recruiters don't have to dig for it.
Filter openings by industry to sharpen your search
Promotions manager roles in CPG look very different from those in entertainment or telecom. Narrow your search by sector before applying so your cover letter and resume framing actually match what the hiring team cares about.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists promotions manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a campaign brief as a portfolio sample
If you don't have a formal portfolio, bring a one-page campaign brief from a past promotion, including objective, mechanic, budget tier, and result. Interviewers for promotions roles respond well to structured thinking in that format.
Negotiate using promotional calendar timing
Offers for promotions manager roles often come right before major retail seasons. If you have competing timelines, use the calendar as a natural negotiation point for start date or sign-on bonus rather than base salary alone.
Promotions Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most promotions managers?
The companies hiring the most promotions managers right now include DoorDash, AbbVie, and Colgate-Palmolive, with the largest share of openings in New York, California, and Illinois, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Consumer goods companies and large retailers consistently account for the bulk of open roles.
How many promotions manager jobs are remote?
About 22% of promotions manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, which is lower than in many other marketing disciplines. Roles focused on digital promotions and email-driven campaigns tend to be the most remote-friendly, while trade promotions and in-store activation roles almost always require on-site or field presence.
How do you become a promotions manager?
Most promotions managers start in marketing coordinator or brand assistant roles and move into promotions-specific work by owning campaign execution on their team. Building hands-on experience with promotional mechanics, vendor relationships, and budget management is more important than any single credential. Roles in retail marketing, shopper marketing, or trade marketing are common stepping stones into a dedicated promotions manager title.
Can you get hired as a promotions manager with little experience?
Entry-level promotions manager roles do exist, particularly at smaller brands, agencies, and regional retailers, and they typically prioritize demonstrated project ownership over years of experience. If your background is light, focus on roles with titles like junior promotions coordinator or promotions specialist first, and document every campaign detail you can from internships, freelance work, or student organizations to show hands-on judgment.
What does the promotions manager interview process look like?
The interview process for a promotions manager role typically includes a phone screen with a recruiter, a hiring manager conversation focused on past campaign examples, and a case study or take-home exercise where you plan or analyze a promotional scenario. Final rounds often bring in a cross-functional stakeholder, such as someone from sales or retail operations, to assess how well you collaborate outside of marketing.
Where can I find and apply to promotions manager jobs?
You can find and apply to promotions manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search for roles that match your experience level and industry focus, then apply directly to each listing. There's no separate signup step before applying.
