The Quality Control Manager / CWI is responsible for maintaining the company's Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with AISC and customer requirements, and overseeing quality inspections throughout the fabrication process. This position serves as the Management Representative for quality and regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Maintain AISC certification and prepare for audits.
- Plan, conduct, and manage internal audits, external certification audits, customer audits, and corrective actions resulting from audit findings.
- Perform fit-up, welding, dimensional, and final inspections.
- Issue and manage Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
- Coordinate third-party inspections and testing.
- Audit production processes for compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Maintain quality records and inspection documentation.
- Manage quality-related data, documentation, and workflows within Tekla PowerFab.
- Monitor supplier and subcontractor quality performance.
- Train employees on quality standards, welding requirements, and blueprint reading.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain calibration and inspection programs for measuring equipment.
Qualifications
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required.
- Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AISC requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience with Tekla PowerFab preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of fabrication, welding, inspection, or quality control experience.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
