R D Engineering Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a r d engineering in Florida?
Most r d engineering roles in Florida require at least a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or biomedical engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Florida does not require a state engineering license for most private-sector R&D positions, though obtaining a Professional Engineer license through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers strengthens your candidacy for senior roles. Hands-on thesis, co-op, or internship experience is a practical differentiator when entering the field.
Which companies hire r d engineerings in Florida?
Employers hiring r d engineerings in Florida right now include KLS Martin, Socure, and Barfield, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's strong aerospace and defense industrial base means many of the most active hiring companies maintain large multi-disciplinary engineering campuses that staff R&D teams continuously.
Which Florida cities have the most r d engineering jobs?
The Florida cities with the most r d engineering openings are Jacksonville, Miami, and Miami Lakes. Orlando and the Space Coast lead because of the high density of aerospace, defense, and simulation technology contractors anchored around Kennedy Space Center, Patrick Space Force Base, and Central Florida's research corridor, while Tampa draws demand from defense, medical device, and energy technology employers.
Are there remote r d engineering jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're limited. R&D engineering work is largely hands-on, involving laboratory testing, hardware prototyping, and collaboration with physical equipment, which makes full remote arrangements uncommon. About 0% of r d engineering openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. The roles most likely to offer hybrid schedules are in systems engineering, technical program management, and computational or software-heavy R&D work.
How can I get hired as a r d engineering in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a formal internship or co-op during your engineering degree, and Florida's major contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and L3Harris run structured early-career and new-graduate programs specifically for candidates without full-time experience. Applying to test engineer, junior systems engineer, or engineering associate roles is a common lateral entry point. Building a portfolio of senior design projects, academic research, or personal prototyping work and pursuing a Fundamentals of Engineering credential through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers gives candidates a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to r d engineering jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to r d engineering jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from employers across the state. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly through the listings.
