Regional Director Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a regional director in New York?
Most regional directors in New York reach the role by progressing from district manager, operations manager, or department director positions within their industry. New York does not require a universal state license for the title, but specific sectors add credential requirements, such as a New York State insurance license for insurance operations directors or a New York State-issued administrator certificate for healthcare facility directors. A bachelor's degree is the standard baseline, and an MBA strengthens candidacy for corporate and financial services roles.
How much do regional directors make in New York?
Regional directors in New York earn a median of about $167,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $90,760 for the lowest 10% to over $305,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire regional directors in New York?
Employers hiring regional directors in New York right now include Fivetran, WSP, and Belden, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, hospital systems, and national retail headquarters makes it one of the densest markets in the country for this role.
Which New York cities have the most regional director jobs?
New York, Albany, and Bronx have the most regional director openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its headquarters density across finance, media, healthcare, and retail, while areas like White Plains and Buffalo generate demand from regional corporate offices and large anchor employers such as health systems and financial service branches serving upstate markets.
Are there remote regional director jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles, since regional directors are typically expected to travel to and oversee physical locations. About 27% of regional director openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements more frequent than fully remote. The portions of the role most amenable to remote work include reporting, strategy planning, and stakeholder calls, while site visits and team oversight remain in-person.
How can I get hired as a regional director in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a district manager or area operations manager role first, then building toward regional director from within. Large New York employers such as Northwell Health, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and major retail chains run structured management development programs that place high-performing operations staff on a director track. Candidates transitioning from store manager, branch manager, or operations supervisor roles find those titles treated as direct stepping stones. A relevant New York sector credential, such as a healthcare facility administrator certificate or a Series 7 license for financial services, accelerates the transition.
Where can I find and apply to regional director jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to regional director jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, the Hudson Valley, Buffalo, and other markets in the state. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
