Prudence is the next chapter for the space long known as Judge Roy Bean Saloon, named for the island across the bay. We're keeping what people have always loved about this corner of State Street: a comfortable bar, familiar faces, an easy place to gather. On top of that, we're building a chef-driven concept with an eclectic coastal aesthetic, farm-to-table ingredients, and top-quality food, rolling out over the next few weeks. We're looking for people who want to help shape that from the ground up, not just join after the dust settles, no corporate playbook, no cookie-cutter menu.
Our Mission
Prudence is rooted in Bristol, but open to everyone, a place locals can feel proud of, and a place people from across Rhode Island will want to come experience. We believe great food and great hospitality come from a small team that genuinely believes in what they're building together, not just clocking in and out. If you want to help bring better food, better drinks, and better hospitality to this space's next chapter, we want to hear from you.
General Manager, Front of House
We're looking for a hands-on GM to run front-of-house operations while protecting the quality and creativity that makes this place what it is. You'll work closely with our chef/owner on staffing, guest experience, and the bottom line, all while helping bring a new identity to life. This role is focused on the front of the house, back-of-house and kitchen operations are managed separately by our culinary team.
What you'll do:
- Oversee daily front-of-house operations
- Hire, train, develop and manage a small, high-performing front-of-house team
- Manage front-of-house vendor relationships
- Own front-of-house scheduling, and service standards
- Uphold service and hospitality standards that match the quality of the food
- Partner with ownership and the chef on guest experience, events, and long-term growth
What we're looking for:
- Several years of experience in the hospitality industry, with proven experience managing a restaurant or bar, ideally in an independent or chef-driven setting
- Strong grasp of P&L, labor, and cost management
- A working knowledge of wines and cocktails
- A genuine passion for farm-to-table sourcing, and elevated hospitality
- Clean, professional presentation and demeanor
- Ability to lead a small team and clearly communicate a vision
- Leadership style that's calm under pressure and respected by a team
- Someone who embraces a challenge
Bartenders
We are looking for bartenders who treat cocktails like a craft, not just a job, people who can build a thoughtful drink menu, talk confidently about ingredients and technique, and speak confidently about the menu offerings.
What you'll do:
- Craft and execute a seasonal, ingredient-driven seasonal cocktail program
- Maintain a polished, efficient bar during high-volume service
- Work to keep all prep and mise en place as fresh as possible
- Help develop new cocktails and seasonal menu updates
- Represent the restaurant's standards of quality and hospitality at every interaction
What we're looking for:
- Several years of experience in the hospitality industry, with solid experience in cocktail bartending
- Comfort selling and describing high-end, farm-to-table food
- Strong knowledge of spirits, technique, and current cocktail trends
- Clean, professional presentation and demeanor
- A team-first attitude, we're a small crew and everyone pitches in
Why work with us
- Small, independent operation, your voice and ideas actually matter here
- Ground-floor opportunity to help shape Prudence's new chef-driven, eclectic coastal concept on Narragansett Bay
- Work with high-quality, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients
- Be part of shaping the food and drink program, not just executing someone else's vision
- Competitive pay, based on experience
Prudence is an equal opportunity employer.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person

Restaurant Manager Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a restaurant manager in Rhode Island?
Most restaurant managers in Rhode Island advance through hands-on food service experience combined with a food safety credential. The Rhode Island Department of Health requires at least one certified food protection manager per establishment, and employers strongly prefer candidates who already hold that certification through a program such as ServSafe. A degree in hospitality management helps with competitive openings, but many employers prioritize supervisory tenure and measurable results in prior restaurant roles over formal credentials.
Which companies hire restaurant managers in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring restaurant managers in Rhode Island include Dunkin', Taco Bell, and Shake Shack, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's blend of year-round hotel food and beverage operations and a thriving independent restaurant culture in Providence and Newport keeps demand active with both corporate operators and locally owned groups.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most restaurant manager jobs?
The cities with the most restaurant manager openings in Rhode Island are Providence, Westerly, and Bristol. Providence anchors the market as the state's largest dining hub, with a dense concentration of independent restaurants, hotel dining rooms, and event venues, while Newport's seasonal but high-volume tourism industry generates consistent demand for experienced food and beverage leadership throughout the warmer months.
Are there remote restaurant manager jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of restaurant manager openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role is by nature. The portions most suited to remote or flexible work are administrative functions such as scheduling, vendor communications, and reporting for multi-unit or regional manager roles at larger corporate operators.
How can I get hired as a restaurant manager in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a shift supervisor or assistant manager role at a full-service or quick-service operation in Providence or Newport, where turnover creates frequent openings for candidates willing to grow into the title. Earning a Rhode Island Department of Health food protection manager certification immediately sets you apart. Large hotel operators like the Omni Providence and regional food service contractors such as Aramark often develop assistant managers internally, making lateral moves from front-of-house lead or kitchen supervisor the most common bridge into full management.
Where can I find and apply to restaurant manager jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to restaurant manager jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and location preference, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
