Overview

The Safety and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for implementing, managing, and enforcing the company’s safety program across all commercial roofing and waterproofing project sites. This role works closely with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to ensure full compliance with Washington State DOSH regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices. The Safety and Compliance Coordinator travels daily to active job sites, conducts audits and inspections, delivers safety training, and manages incident reporting. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations.

• Pay: $65,000.00 – $88,000.00 Depending on qualifications

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Travel daily to active commercial roofing project sites to conduct field safety inspections and document findings in comprehensive audit reports with photos.
• Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions to ensure compliance with all Washington State DOSH regulations and company safety requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talk safety discussions with crews; ensure attendance sign-ins and signatures are captured and filed.
• Develop and deliver site-specific safety plans for each project; attend all preconstruction meetings with project teams.
• Accompany project managers and superintendents on initial site visits to assist in the development of project safety plans.
• Maintain cooperation and coordination with project managers and superintendents to ensure safety requirements are integrated from project start through closeout.
• When necessary, initiate required disciplinary actions for willful non-compliance with safety policies.
• Inspect company vehicles on site and complete truck inspection reports with photos.
• Manage and maintain inventory of PPE and safety supplies for trucks and job sites; coordinate with operations to ensure adequate supply levels.
• Respond to and conduct full investigations of accidents or incidents occurring on job sites; ensure all required incident and accident forms are completed and reviewed.
• Coordinate post-accident drug testing per DOSH requirements.
• Assist in the management of workers’ compensation claims and determination of recordable/non-recordable injury status.
• Deliver safety training as required to meet job-specific or regulatory requirements.
• Write clear safety reports, correspondence, and emails related to safety activities, incidents, and compliance.
• Establish and maintain relationships with safety managers and safety supervisors of customers and general contractors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5 years of construction safety experience, with at least 2 years in commercial roofing, waterproofing, or a related specialty contractor environment strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of Washington State DOSH regulations (WISHA), fall protection standards, and construction safety best practices; OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification required; additional safety certifications (e.g., CHST, STSC, or equivalent) are a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct site inspections, document hazards, and follow through on corrective actions.
• Experience developing and delivering toolbox talks, safety training, and site-specific safety plans.
• Experience managing incident investigations and workers’ compensation reporting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work effectively with field crews, project managers, and customers.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping.
• Valid driver’s license required; this position requires daily travel to project sites and the physical ability to climb ladders, access rooftops, and perform jobsite inspections with little fear of heights.
