How do you become a sales assistant in Indiana?
Most sales assistant roles in Indiana require a high school diploma or equivalent, and no state-issued license is mandated for the general role. Employers typically hire candidates who have completed a retail, business, or communications program at an Indiana community college or university. Building experience through part-time retail work, completing a business fundamentals certificate at Ivy Tech Community College, and gaining CRM software skills are the most reliable ways to qualify for competitive openings across the state.
Which companies hire sales assistants in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring sales assistants in Indiana include My Wireless, Rent-A-Center, and Schillings, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's mix of large retail headquarters, manufacturing distributors, and financial services firms creates steady demand for sales support talent at multiple experience levels.
Which Indiana cities have the most sales assistant jobs?
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Elkhart have the most sales assistant openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates due to its concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and major retail operations, while Fort Wayne and South Bend draw significant volume from regional distribution centers, healthcare systems, and established mid-market employers that maintain dedicated inside and field sales teams.
Are there remote sales assistant jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields, since many sales assistant roles involve in-person client interaction, showroom support, or on-site retail duties. About 0% of sales assistant openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with availability skewed toward inside sales support and administrative sales coordination rather than floor or territory-based positions.
How can I get hired as a sales assistant in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for seasonal or part-time retail sales roles at Indiana-based employers such as Simon Property Group's mall tenants or regional grocery and home improvement chains, which routinely hire without prior experience. Completing Ivy Tech Community College's sales or business certificate program adds a credential that Indiana hiring managers recognize.
