Sales Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales professional in Oregon?
Most Oregon sales roles require a bachelor's degree and demonstrable selling experience, though requirements vary by industry. Pharmaceutical and medical device sales often expect a science or business degree alongside prior sales experience, while technology and SaaS roles typically look for software fluency and a track of quota attainment. Oregon does not require a state-issued license for most sales positions, though real estate and insurance sales each require passing an Oregon Division of Financial Regulation exam before working independently.
Which companies hire sales professionals in Oregon?
Oregon sales roles are posted by World Market, Nordstrom, and Soma and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oregon's mix of global technology, consumer goods, and healthcare employers creates a varied range of sales roles, from enterprise software accounts to medical territory management.
Which Oregon cities have the most sales jobs?
Portland, Tigard, and Seaside lead Oregon in sales job volume. Portland dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters and regional offices in tech, healthcare, and consumer goods, while Salem draws openings from state government contractors and regional distributors, and Eugene benefits from University of Oregon's research partnerships and a growing cluster of outdoor and specialty manufacturers.
Are there remote sales jobs in Oregon?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 44% of sales openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how many software, SaaS, and inside sales roles are conducted entirely by phone, video, and email. Field and territory sales roles tied to physical accounts remain largely on-site or travel-based.
How can I get hired as a sales professional in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a sales development representative or business development representative role, which Oregon technology companies and staffing firms hire for without requiring prior quota experience. Large employers like Daimler Trucks North America and Oregon Health and Science University bring on entry-level account coordinators with strong communication skills. A HubSpot or Salesforce certification strengthens any application without requiring prior employment, and lateral moves from customer service or retail roles at employers like Columbia Sportswear are a recognized path into outside sales.
