Strategic Finance Manager Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategic finance manager in Rhode Island?
Most Rhode Island employers expect a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, and several years of financial planning and analysis experience before promoting or hiring into this role. Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license to work as a strategic finance manager, but holding a CPA issued through the Rhode Island Board of Accountancy or passing the CFA exam significantly strengthens candidacy at the state's financial services firms, hospital systems, and universities.
Which companies hire strategic finance managers in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island strategic finance manager roles are posted by CVS Health, Fidelity Investments, and Citizens and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of insurance carriers, integrated health networks, and Ivy League-affiliated institutions means demand for this role stays relatively consistent throughout the year.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most strategic finance manager jobs?
Providence, Rhode Island, and Woonsocket have the most strategic finance manager openings in Rhode Island. Providence drives the majority of listings because it hosts the state's largest hospital networks, financial services headquarters, and universities, while suburban cities like Cranston and Warwick contribute openings tied to insurance and manufacturing firms that maintain full finance functions outside the capital.
Are there remote strategic finance manager jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 79% of strategic finance manager openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. The portions of the role most likely to stay fully remote are long-range modeling, board reporting, and scenario analysis, while business-partner responsibilities typically require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a strategic finance manager in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a financial analyst or FP&A analyst role first, then building toward the manager level. Rhode Island's large employers, including health systems like Lifespan and financial services firms like Amica Mutual, regularly post junior analyst openings that feed into strategic finance tracks. Earning a CPA through the Rhode Island Board of Accountancy or completing the CFA program accelerates promotion, and candidates with experience in budgeting or variance analysis from adjacent roles in accounting or operations are frequently considered.
Where can I find and apply to strategic finance manager jobs in Rhode Island?
