Work Hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Position Summary:

Saint Paul’s Episcopal School is looking for a part-time substitute teacher who can deliver high-quality instruction that promotes students’ Spanish language skills (speaking, reading, writing, listening) and cultural content at PK - 6th grade. An ideal candidate ensures continuity of learning and maintains a positive classroom environment while possessing a wide-range of knowledge and skills. Qualified candidates must have the ability to develop connections with students from a variety of ages. This position reports to the director of early school andK-6th grade academic dean, appropriately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans provided by the teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Execute lesson materials, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students and the designated faculty member.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests, including those with learning differences.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Communicate daily objectives to students.
• Administer tests and/or quizzes left by the faculty, being respectful of their instructions to maintain academic integrity.
• Collaborate with the faculty, health staff, and administrators as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or a GED. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.
• Actively support and promote the Episcopal nature of the school and uphold and model the mission and values of the school.
• Previous experience teaching children from PK through sixth grade is preferred. Genuine love for working with children and supporting their individual growth and development.
• Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood and or elementary education.
• Implement differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs, including those with learning differences.
• Ability to track attendance and participate in the chapel program while meeting professional standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team and serve as a positive, ethical, and responsible representative of the school. Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing classroom and program needs.
• Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to actively engage with children throughout the afternoon.
• Ability to lift and carry young children when necessary.
• Must successfully pass all required background checks and comply with state licensing requirements and school policies.

Certifications Required:

• CPR/AED/First Aid can be obtained upon hiring.
