Position Overview:
The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Communication Sciences (TLCS) in the School of Education (SoE) announces an opportunity to apply for a full-time tenure-track (Assistant Professor rank) faculty position in Special education to begin Fall 2027. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective teaching, research, service, and advising.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching undergraduate courses as well as some graduate courses in special education foundations, assessment and planning, instruction and behavior, and professional practice including interventions for advanced and complex disabilities.
- Interest in conducting quality scholarly research that leads to publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participating in student advisement and mentoring.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to implement field experiences for students and provide programmatic support.
- Providing service to the college, school, department, program, profession and community.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Doctoral degree in Special Education.
- ABDs will be considered only if the degree will be completed prior to or shortly after the time of employment.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, impactful research, professional growth, and student achievement.
- Commitment to further enhancing our collegial environment among all students and faculty, demonstrated through culturally responsive course design and pedagogy, equity-minded student engagement and mentorship, and the development of intercultural competencies needed for meaningful citizenship.
- Dynamic, collaborative faculty members who will enhance the TLCS department through impactful research, scholarship, and creative accomplishments.
