As a Transportation Manager you will lead our mission to have safe, reliable, compliant and innovative transportation that supports every students' access to learning across our CSUSA network. This position reports to the National Transportation Director and supports schools across the Charter Schools USA network. This role will manage Transportation Leads, Transportation Coordinators, School Bus Operators, contracted bus services for specific schools and Red Apple Busing LLC.

• Have strength in assessing needs, coordinate services and safety practices necessary to establish and maintain safe, effective and efficient pupil transportation services for schools under your direction.

• Be talented for ensuring that transportation functions are performed with the terms of school board policies, parish or district regulations and any acts or law affecting student transportation

• Have the capability to facilitate group involvement and conduct professional meetings.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with parents, school leadership, vendors, employees and the community we serve.
• Be capable of understanding and implementing compliance with state and federal requirements to avoid unlawful practices and embarrassment to our schools. (FMCSA,DOT,OSHA and DOE)

• Bachelor's degree in management, logistics or supply chain or 10 years of progressive transportation/logistics management experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree. High School diploma required.
• Prefer 3-5 years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics or fleet management .
• 1 or more years managing a team of 10 or more employees to include drivers with a commercial drivers license.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, routing technology, fleet management systems, ERP systems and project management platforms (e.g., Monday.com).
• 2 or more years of managerial experience with employee hiring and performance management.
• Skilled in day-to-day vendor performance discussions and issue resolution, arriving at satisfactory outcomes using compromise, persuasion, rationale and diplomacy.
• Past practice of conducting root cause analysis for bus incidents, accidents or near misses and implementation of coaching to align with expectations set by our company policies or government compliance.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings and occasional evenings or weekends, to align with school schedules or special events.
• Ability to work hands on in other transportation specific roles when needed to ensure success.
• Direct and supervise the planning, organizing and scheduling of pupil transportation requirements for home to school routes, field trips and extracurricular trips.
• Requires experience with DOT regulations and FMCSA Clearinghouse and preferred experience with Department of Education regulations for pupil transportation.
• Ability to interpret and apply operating policies and procedures.
• Solid understanding of financial acumen and how to apply decision making based on financial data.
• Strong analytical and auditing skills, with the ability to review invoices and financial transactions for accuracy, reconcile vendor accounts, and prepare clear financial and operational reports for leadership review.
• Detail-oriented recordkeeping and systems administration skills, with the ability to maintain compliance documentation and workforce screening/driver management platforms in a consistently audit-ready state.
• Working knowledge of fleet inspection and preventive maintenance compliance, with the ability to manage recurring inspection cycles and train internal and contracted teams on inspection procedures.
• Ability to provide hands-on operational coverage, including dispatch and school-site transportation support, when staffing needs arise.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce recurring updates for school and regional stakeholders and support data-driven performance reporting.

Work Environment

Office work conditions with frequent school site visit and bus driver ride along programs to enhance team collaboration.

Physical Demands

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

Ability to travel within the United States for site visits or meetings.

Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended period during site visits, inspections or bus rides.
