Which artificial intelligence companies sponsor H-1B visas in Illinois?
Several large Illinois-based employers have consistent H-1B visa filing histories in artificial intelligence, including Motorola Solutions, Zebra Technologies, and Allstate, which has invested heavily in AI and data science. Chicago also hosts major tech offices for Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, all of which file H-1B petitions for AI roles. Consulting firms like Accenture and Deloitte, with large Chicago presences, also sponsor H-1B workers in AI and machine learning positions.
Which cities in Illinois have the most artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship activity in Illinois. The River North, West Loop, and Fulton Market neighborhoods have emerged as technology hubs with significant AI hiring. Evanston, home to Northwestern University, sees some activity tied to research and university-adjacent startups. Outside the Chicago metro area, AI H-1B sponsorship opportunities are limited, so most candidates focus their search on the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
What types of artificial intelligence roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Illinois?
Roles that consistently qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Illinois AI hiring include machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI research scientist, natural language processing engineer, and computer vision engineer. These positions generally require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a closely related field, satisfying the H-1B specialty occupation requirement. Roles that blend AI with domain expertise, such as AI in financial services or healthcare analytics, are also well-represented in Illinois H-1B filings.
How do I find artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates looking for H-1B sponsorship jobs in artificial intelligence in Illinois. Rather than sifting through general job boards where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate filters listings by visa type and location, so every result you see is relevant to your situation. You can search directly for AI roles in Illinois and filter by H-1B sponsorship to surface employers who have a documented history of sponsoring international workers in this field.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in artificial intelligence?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa or work authorization requirements beyond federal H-1B rules, but a few practical factors are worth knowing. Illinois has a strong network of Big Ten and private research universities, meaning many AI candidates in the state are transitioning from F-1 OPT status, which adds timing considerations around H-1B cap filing dates. Chicago's competitive AI hiring market also means employers often use premium processing to accelerate approvals, though this is an employer decision, not a guarantee.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B artificial intelligence jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
