Which artificial intelligence companies sponsor H-1B visas in New York?
New York has a wide range of artificial intelligence H-1B sponsors across industries. Major tech employers include Google, Amazon, IBM, and Microsoft, all with significant New York offices. Financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Bloomberg actively hire AI talent under H-1B sponsorship. AI-native companies such as Hugging Face, Dataiku, and numerous Series A and B startups headquartered in Manhattan also appear regularly in DOL H-1B disclosure data.
Which cities in New York have the most artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming majority of artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs in New York, particularly in Midtown and the Flatiron District, where tech and finance employers are concentrated. Brooklyn's tech community, centered around DUMBO and the Navy Yard, is a secondary hub with growing AI startup activity. Buffalo and Albany have smaller but emerging AI hiring markets tied to university research partnerships and state economic development initiatives.
What types of artificial intelligence roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that consistently qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B include machine learning engineer, data scientist, NLP engineer, computer vision researcher, AI research scientist, and MLOps engineer. These positions typically require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field. Roles where the degree requirement is specific to the field of AI or machine learning, rather than open to any discipline, are the most straightforward to sponsor.
How do I find artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs in New York from employers with a documented history of sponsoring that visa category. Rather than manually checking company careers pages or DOL disclosure data, Migrate Mate aggregates verified sponsoring employers in one place, which is particularly useful given how competitive and fast-moving New York's AI hiring market is.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in artificial intelligence?
New York's high cost of living means prevailing wage determinations for AI roles tend to be among the highest in the country, which employers must meet when filing the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. New York City also enforces its own local employment laws that affect hiring processes, though these don't change federal H-1B requirements. Competition for sponsored AI roles in New York is intense, and many employers require candidates to already be in H-1B-eligible status or on OPT.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B artificial intelligence jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
