Which media & entertainment companies sponsor visas in Iowa?
Dotdash Meredith (formerly Meredith Corporation) in Des Moines is Iowa's largest media employer and has sponsored H-1B visas for digital content roles and data analysts. Iowa Public Television occasionally sponsors for specialized broadcasting positions. Smaller digital marketing agencies and agricultural media companies in Cedar Rapids and Ames also provide sponsorship opportunities, particularly for software developers supporting media platforms.
Which visa types are most common for media & entertainment roles in Iowa?
H-1B visas dominate for technical roles like software engineers, data analysts, and digital marketing specialists in Iowa's media companies. O-1 visas are less common but occasionally used for specialized creative professionals or journalists with extraordinary ability. TN visas work for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles like graphic designers or market research analysts at media organizations.
How to find media & entertainment visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters Iowa media and entertainment positions by visa sponsorship status, showing which employers actively sponsor work visas. Focus on Des Moines for the largest opportunities, including Dotdash Meredith and local broadcasting stations. University towns like Iowa City and Ames also offer positions with student media organizations and agricultural broadcasting companies that may sponsor international talent.
Which cities in Iowa have the most media & entertainment sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines leads with the highest concentration, hosting Dotdash Meredith's headquarters and multiple television stations. Cedar Rapids follows with regional media outlets and digital agencies. Iowa City offers opportunities through university-affiliated media and the Iowa Writers' Workshop connections. Smaller markets like Davenport and Waterloo have local broadcasting stations that occasionally sponsor for specialized technical or content roles.
What are the prevailing wage considerations for media jobs in Iowa?
Iowa's lower cost of living results in prevailing wages that are typically 20-30% below national averages for media roles, which can actually benefit H-1B applications by reducing the required salary thresholds. Software developers and data analysts in media companies command the highest wages. Agricultural broadcasting and rural media outlets often offer competitive packages to attract specialized talent to smaller markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored media & entertainment jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
