Which accounting companies sponsor H-1B visas in Kansas?
The most active H-1B visa sponsors for accounting roles in Kansas include the Big Four firms, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, and EY, operating through their Kansas City and Overland Park offices, alongside regional leaders like Forvis Mazur and CliftonLarsonAllen. Large corporate employers in manufacturing and aviation, including Koch Industries and INVISTA, also sponsor H-1B accountants for in-house finance and tax roles. Sponsorship volume and consistency vary by employer, so reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application filings is the most reliable way to verify current activity.
Which cities in Kansas have the most accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and the broader Kansas City metro area account for the majority of accounting H-1B sponsorship activity in Kansas, driven by regional headquarters, national firm offices, and a dense concentration of financial services employers. Wichita is the second-largest market, supported by aerospace and manufacturing companies that maintain sizeable accounting departments. Topeka, as the state capital, has some activity tied to government contractors and healthcare organizations, though volume is considerably lower than the Kansas City metro.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in accounting is typically reserved for specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. Positions commonly sponsored include external audit associate and senior, corporate tax analyst, financial reporting analyst, management accountant, and forensic accountant. General bookkeeping or data-entry roles do not meet the specialty occupation standard. Roles requiring a CPA license or advanced credentials like a master's degree in accounting are generally well-positioned for H-1B eligibility, though each petition is evaluated individually by USCIS.
How do I find accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, you can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface accounting roles with verified H-1B sponsorship history in Kansas. Because Migrate Mate pulls from DOL Labor Condition Application data, you can see which Kansas employers have actually filed LCAs for accounting positions, rather than relying on job postings that may not reflect real sponsorship willingness. Focusing on employers with consistent LCA filing history in audit, tax, or financial reporting gives you the strongest starting point for your Kansas job search.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for H-1B accounting sponsorship?
Kansas does not impose state-level restrictions on H-1B employment beyond federal requirements, but a few practical factors apply. CPA licensure in Kansas is regulated by the Kansas Board of Accountancy, and some senior or client-facing roles may require a Kansas CPA license or active progress toward one, this is an employer-by-employer requirement, not a visa condition. Kansas's cost of living relative to coastal markets means prevailing wage benchmarks, as published through the OFLC Wage Search, tend to reflect regional pay scales that differ from national averages. Employers in agriculture-adjacent accounting, particularly in western Kansas agribusiness firms, have less frequent H-1B sponsorship history than Wichita or Overland Park employers.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B accounting jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
